Dick x reader

"I swear, Wally might not be last this time." I sighed staring at my watch.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." Dick stumbled over his shoes as he fixed his jacket.

"You look nice." He said as he put on his tinted sunglasses.

"Save your flirting for Z." I rolled my eyes and we made our way to the zeta tubes.

Today was Wally and Artemis' last day as heroes before retiring, so we're doing a goodbye and good luck party for them. We were planning on doing this earlier but everyone had plans the first few days of the new year. In our group of 8, Superboy and M'gann were a couple, Wally and Artemis had begun dating, Dick is flirting with Zatanna, leaving me and Aqualad to be the awkward bystanders. 

Aqualad sat beside me, "If I knew I was going to be the... what, fifth? Seventh wheel? I should've stayed home and slept." I mumbled.

"I understand what you mean." Aqualad responded.

I sighed, my eyes drifting over to Dick. Zatanna was laughing and he seemed embarrassed, so things seem to be going well.

"I always assumed you and Robin were involved with each other." Aqualad said to me.

"We.. grew up together. Our parents were friends. Then things happened and I ended up tagging along, all the way till now." I ate a chip. "Guess I've always just tagged along." I shrugged.

"It's been so long he probably thinks of me as his sister. Any hope of a romantic relationship, out the window." I thought. "Either way, even if he did return my feelings, I'm sure it wouldn't have lasted long..." I mumbled.

"Really?" He asked.

"I don't exactly have the nicest.. temperament." I said awkwardly. I looked up at Dick again and it was just in time to see Zatanna kiss his cheek. "Z's a nice person.. and they get along... I need some air." I said and left the couch, making my way down to the beach.

I sat on a rock, letting my feet touch the water as the waves came in and out. I was always easily jealous or possessive, and I hated that. I was a bully, and just awful, mean, horrible, I was the popular mean girl you see in romance movies. When certain girls got too close to Dick or tried using me to get closer to him ... let's say they didn't come to school for a few days, or they mysteriously transferred for unknown reasons.  

Back at the circus, I was a dagger thrower, so sometimes... I put my skills to good use. As I grew up, I began to hate myself. I did my best to control my emotions, not let myself get obnoxiously jealous or get into fights. I also kept myself a distance from Dick avoiding him when possible. But, I became a hero/vigilante because I didn't like the idea of Dick seeing other female heroes. Creepy and hypocritical, right?

"What are you doing out here?" I turned to find it was Wally.

"Nothing.. How's boy wonder doing?" I asked.

"He's getting there." He shrugged.

"Good for him, it's about time." I smiled.

"It's not too late for you to tell him." Wally told me, in a sympathetic tone.

I turned my gaze on the ocean. "... Things are fine the way they are." I said.

"If you say so. I'm buying some snacks, want anything?." He asked.

I smiled, "I'm fine." I said and he nodded, going off to buy some candy.

"Yeah, I'm okay.. I have to be." I bit the inside of my cheek, putting my head down in my arms.

I felt my phone buzz and reached into my pocket to see a text from Dick. "She said yes!" I read it out loud.

I smiled and responded with "good for you." I sent it and put my phone down, not bothering to check his response.
