Warning: angst and insanity?

Happy. His happiness is the most important thing to me. I've always loved his smile, his laugh, his cute jokes and his own variations of the English vocabulary.

"Hey (Y/n)!" I smiled seeing Dick finally arrive. "Sorry I'm late." He said stopping next to me. "Barbara and I had a little, you know... this morning." He smiled happily.

I smiled knowing what he meant. They had a little quickie this morning, which was why he was late. "No problem. Let's go find this ring." I said and we both walked into the mall. "So. You want the classic ring? The diamond and silver bands? The simple gold band? Or something different?" I asked as we waited for the elevator to take us to the 6th floor.

"I don't know. I'll have to see it to know if it's perfect for her, you know?" He asked and I nodded. "Oh, hows it with you and Pete?" He asked.

"Fine." I shrugged. "I mean nothing bad is happening, no fights or arguments. Nothing is being planned, our anniversaries are in the early half of the year so are our birthdays, and it's only June." I shrugged.

"Well, if you need someone to talk to him, I'm here for you." He smiled at me.

"Thanks." I smiled. Truth is, Peter and I broke up. He cheated on me. But I wasn't upset. I didn't blame him honestly. He was kind and a charming man. I drove him away and into the arms of another. She was a beautiful African-American girl he met at his college seminar. I think her name was Sayda.

I've met her, and she was nice. She did volunteer work, she loved kids and animals, she was also smart, straight A student and she enjoyed things like theatre and video games.

"(Y/n)?" I looked at Dick realizing I had spaced out.

"Sorry, what?" I asked.

"I was asking if you wanted to have lunch here. You know if we stay later than intended." He said.

"Oh yeah, sure." I smiled.

I didn't want to tell Dick. I didn't want him to worry about me. He has this big proposal to think about. After that, his wedding, and his honeymoon. After that he'll plan on having children probably and etc, etc. He had not time to be pining over me and my sad love life.

The elevator finally arrived and we stepped in and went up to the 6th floor. It was a silent ride with him texting, I believe it was Barbara.

"Dick, we're here." I said as the elevator doors opened and we both stepped out. We made our way to the jewelry stores. This mall was designed so that everything was on one floor.

First floor had had make up brands from the most well known, to the smaller ones that sold expensive brands for cheaper price. Second floor, children's clothing. Third floor, women/teenage girl clothing, which included Prom dresses. Fourth was mens clothing. Each floor with their respective stores for shoes. Fifth floor was food and drinks. Sixth was jewelry and other accessories.

We walked into the first store and there was a whole section of beautiful rings. "Hello, how may I help you today?" A lady walked up to us smiling.

"Yes, I'm looking for an engagement ring." Dick said.

"Ah, yes. We have a beautiful arrangement here for you to choose from." She showed us to an aisle near the back with beautiful rings. "May I assume that you are the lucky bride to be?" she asked.
