"You shouldn't go." Jason frowned, with his arms crossed.

"Jay, I have to." I told him.

"No. You don't. Leave this to me, to Superman, to the League!" he complained throwing the file on the coffee table. "they have an evil Superman who can hear you coming from a mile away! The Syndicate is not your responsibility. They are powered heroes, who will kill you without a second thought, you cannot go, at any cost. I won't let you!" Jason argued.

"Jason." I placed my hands on his shoulders.

"I know this is dangerous. I'm not going to fight them. I'm just going to attain information and watch the low level minions and place a tracker on their boss." I said to him, trying to ease his worries. "I won't be going anywhere close to their base." I said to him.

"You don't have to go alone." he said to me. "I'll go with you." he said.

"You can't, you have the Serial case to follow up on with Dick, don't you?" I asked him.

"(Y/n), please." he said to me, holding my hands. "You don't understand how dangerous this is!" he gripped my hands tighter.

"I do know the dangers, which is why I'm going myself. I'm the only officer on the task with an ability that can let me escape if things go south." I said to him.

"I don't care if you can teleport, I can't.. I don't want to lose you.." He stared straight at me. "Because you...." he frowned and sighed, "Because you are my best friend." he said and I smiled and hugged him.

"I'm still gonna go." I said to him.

".. I know.." he replied and hugged me tighter. "Just be careful.. you better leave at the first sign of trouble. Don't be reckless and don't do anything you can't handle" he stated firmly.

"I promise." I said to him.

"I'll be waiting for you." he said and I nodded.

It was the first night of my stakeout, I guess you could call it. There was an anonymous tip about this abandoned facility being used for the Syndicate. They send in the orders, and the minions carry them out. I sighed and turned on the computers, seeing all planted cameras were operating, and the audio was good.

"Just find the boss, place the tracker and get out of here.." I mumbled looking at the screens, trying to see who was the one giving out the orders.

~~

It's been 3 days and I've narrowed my suspicions to 2 different people. "What if I place the tracker on both of them?" I considered. "They both seem to have an equal amount of power, and it doesn't seem like they take orders from anyone.." I thought. I bit my lip. "But what if these 2 are taking orders from one more person that I haven't seen yet?" I considered. "Or the boss is in a different location or base, getting the orders and then these guys get the orders?" I thought.

"Should I continue watching and see if my guess is true, or risk it and place it on those 2?" I thought. ".. I'll do it." I mumbled and grabbed the trackers and left my little hideout.

Jason was sitting in his apartment, waiting. (Y/n) was supposed to come back today. If she couldn't complete her mission in a week, she was supposed to retreat and whatever she could learn, would be reported back to Jim to tell Batman to tell the League. "What's taking so long.." Jason couldn't help but bounce his leg, and tighten his grip on the picture frame he had of the two of them.

"Jason!" He heard and immediately stood up and opened his door revealing Dick.

"What do you want Grayson, I'm busy." Jason frowned slightly glaring at his brother.

"No time, just come with me." Dick said.

"No, I'm staying. I'm waiting for-" Jason was cut off.

"(Y/n) I know, just.. come with me." Dick said.

Dick took Jason to the Hospital. "Why are we here?" Jason asked. "Hey, Dick. What are we doing here?" Jason asked grabbing his brother by the hand.

Before Dick could say anything, an officer came up to the 2 of them. "Jason..." he called out to Jason.

"Pete? Why.. What happened?" Jason asked him.

"We don't know!" he said. It all happened so fast. It was just a regular shift, then Paul who was monitoring the heart monitor on (Y/n)'s suit came in and said he lost the signal.

"A heart monitor?" Jason asked.

"Just in case.. she died, and we couldn't go recover the body, the heart monitor would be used as confirmation." Pete explained. "Anyway, before we could do anything, (Y/n) fell from the air, she teleported herself back to the station.. except.. she was shot. She was shot in the shoulder, through and through and through her chest. The shot through the chest nicked an artery and we immediately brought her here. The doctors are operating on her now. I have to go back and tell the Captain." Pete said and left without another word.

"Dick, did you know?" Jason asked him.

"Yeah, I had a friend who gave me a call. I then went to get you." Dick said. "Take a seat, we'll have to wait for now." Dick led Jason to one of the hospital chairs.

"2 gun shot wounds.. please (Y/n).. please pull through.." Jason thought, his mind racing around the thought of (Y/n) dying, and of her not being in his life. Her stupid jokes, her adorable smile, awkward things of affections, the way she looked at him like a normal person, and not a freak.. a murderer.. or a broken man.

~~

"(Y/n) will be remembered as a loving daughter, a caring friend, and a hero, who gave her life for the greater good."

Jason stared at the grave in front of him, and placed a (Fav flower), down onto the grave. He stared at the name engraved into the stone.

 (Y/n) (L/n)

 xxxx-20xx

Daughter, Friend, Hero

"Jay. If you are watching this, it meant something went wrong. I'm sorry. There's really is nothing I can say to make you feel better. I just want to say Thank You. For being my friend, who always cheered me up when days were hard, picked me up whenever I fell, and would spend hours with me just listening to me gush about my favorite superheroes and movies and tv shows.... Jay.. I don't want you to be sad, okay? Don't go looking for revenge for me. Be careful when you do your.. bird.. activities." she laughed and sniffled before continuing. "Get along with your brothers, don't give your dad a hard time. Be the hero I know you are.. and I hope we get to see each other again in another lifetime. I love you, Jason."

Jason stared at the play button on his laptop. They found an envelope addressed to him in (Y/n)'s apartment. "I love you too." Jason replied looking at her smiling face in the monitor, dried tears on her cheeks and puffy red eyes. She must've cried even before staring to record this video. "I'm sorry I could never tell you before.." Jason whispered putting his head down, not wanting to see her face as he cried. "I'm sorry." he repeated.. over and over.. and over.
