Camilo looked at me with a nervous smile on his freckle splattered face. I scooted to the right a little bit. Then I gave him a calm smile and patted on the area on the bed next to me, inviting him to take a seat next to me. He took the hint and got up from the stool he was sitting in and took a seat next to me. The bed creaked underneath our combined weight.

He was staring down at his ruana, playing with the hem of it in between his fingers. I noticed that I couldn't really see his face well from this angle so I gently tucked a bit of his hair behind his ear to allow me to see better. His eyes widened when I did this an he finally made eye contact with me. I smiled at him and he gave me back a genuine smile.

Then I felt the weight of his head on my shoulder, a calming, familiar weight that I had felt many times before. I raised my arm to play with his hair since he told me that he enjoyed it.

"You know, I really love these quiet moments with you" I said, softly.

"Me too, Y/n" Camilo said.

I couldn't really see in this position but I knew that he was smiling.

"I uh...I really am sorry, Y/n" Camilo said quietly "I shouldn't have let June do this to you..."

As he apologized, he lightly touched the bandages wrapped around my waist and ribcage that were showing.

"It's not your fault, June is just...a little crazy" I said, laughing slightly.

He laughed too. I can't say this enough but I really did love his laugh.

"I should've just dropped her the second that I heard that she was doing stuff like this..." he said "Then this would've never happened."

I put my free hand over his and I felt him tense up a little bit. Then I felt his shoulders relax as he leaned more into me.

"It's okay, Cami" I reassured him "You're just too nice to drop anyone."

"I haven't heard anyone call me 'Cami' since Marcos' birthday" he said, chuckling a little bit.

"Yeah" I said "By the way, how long was I...asleep?"

"Asleep?" he asked, laughing "Y/n, that was a whole coma!"

We laughed at the joke together.

"Yeah, but still! How long was I in a coma then?" I asked.

"A little over a week" Camilo said "It's Tuesday now."

"How much school work did I miss?" I asked.

"No idea, I haven't gone back since the party" Camilo said, a little too casually for my liking.

"What?! You haven't been going to school?!" I asked, clearly shocked.

"Yeah, is that so bad?" Camilo replied "It was only a week!"

"You're probably super behind!" I exclaimed, causing him to laugh a little "Why didn't you go to school? Laziness?"

He simply smiled and shook his head.

"I was busy taking care of you while you while you were in a coma!" Camilo defended "You are so much more important than school!"

I felt my heart flutter a little bit about how much he cared about me.

"Yes, thank you for feeding me" I said, genuinely.

"I didn't just feed you, I helped Julieta bandage you up, I did all of your usual chores in town and I even positioned you into different positions so you could be more comfortable!" he said, counting on his fingers "Oh, and I took your temperature and stuff to check if you were still okay and you were still..Y'know, with us."

"As if I would leave you guys" I joked, lightening the mood "I just got used to helping around town!"

"Yeah, I got used to that years ago" he said "The life of a Madrigal."

I smiled at him. There was already enough expectations for me and my family and we've only been helping around town for not even a month. I can't even begin to imagine the pressure of an entire town full of people relying on you and your family since you were five years old. Maybe even since you were born.

"There must be a lot of pressure, huh?" I asked "Being a Madrigal?"

"Yeah..." Camilo said "Well, it's gotten a lot easier."

"Really? How come?" I asked, curiously.

"Well..." Camilo began "Is it weird to say because of you?"

I felt my face heat up at those words.

"Uh-" I exclaimed, my eyes wide "Me?"

He laughed and I laughed along with him for a while.

"Well, yeah! Ever since you guys moved here and I started getting to know you" Camilo explained "You've been helping me a lot. You've been helping me figure out who I am and with the pressure of being a part of the 'magical, fantastical Madrigals.'"

"How exactly? I haven't really been doing much to help you..." I said.

"Yes you have! You've done lots to help me!" Camilo said, smiling brightly.

His smile made my heart flutter and I felt butterflies swarm my stomach. His face softened and a calm smile crept onto his lips.

"It's the quiet moments like this that I think help the most" he said, his voice barely over a whisper.

"Yeah, these quiet moments are my favourite too" I said before relaxing and leaning into him.

We stayed like that, saying nothing until Pepa opened the door harshly, her mouth open like she was going to say something. When she saw us cuddling, Camilo took his head off my shoulder and stared wide eyed at his mother. Pepa closed her mouth and quickly shut the door.

Camilo looked mortified. I laughed hysterically at his face, clutching my stomach.

"N-No! Don't laugh, it's not funny!" he said "My mum just- Y/n please, what do I do now?!"

"Nothing!" I managed to get out between my laughter "That was so funny! You like completely got off of me!"

"That was so awkward!" he whined, burying his face in his hands "I'm NEVER going to hear the end of it!"

"Dolores- She probably heard too!" I said, laughing harder at the thought.

"Oh god!" Camilo said, flopping onto his back on the bed.

I sighed and regained my composure as the realization came to my mind again. Camilo and I, or at least I, were never going to forget these wonderful quiet moments.
