After I changed, I waved my hand and the room turned into a dance studio. I looked at the mirrors on the wall, admiring the coat and the small dragonfly details on the pants. I noticed that the mirror was a bit...warped. I guess that's just how the mirrors were in that specific dance studio. I waved my hand again, trying to get the room to show me a different dance studio. It didn't work so I just made the room go back to normal.

I let out a long sigh.

'I guess it's time to help decorate anyway' I thought to myself.

I opened the door and walked outside into the hallway. The blank glowing door caught my eye. I walked up to it and reached my hand out towards it. I didn't touch it though, it was for Marcos, not me. I wondered about what Marcos' gift was going to be. Our family's gifts always had to do with love or illusions or in my case, both.

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder, which snapped me back to reality. It was Camilo.

"Y/n?" he asked "Are you okay? You know that's for Marcos, right?"

I laughed it off.

"Mhm, I just haven't seen a door blank in a while" I replied.

Camilo nodded at me. Then he took my hand in his.

"Hey, don't you have to help decorate?" Camilo asked.

"Yeah" I replied "But you don't have to, why are we holding hands?"

"I have to stay beside you at all times, remember?" Camilo said "Let's go!"

I nodded and Camilo began to lead me downstairs. I saw Mirabel, talking to her dad. When Mirabel ended the conversation between her and Augustin, Camilo stepped in front of her, still holding my hand.

"Hey, prima" Camilo said "Is there anything that we can do?"

Mirabel glanced downward at our joined hands and gave a sly smile in my direction. I rolled my eyes at her. She changed her face back to normal when she turned to Camilo.

"Well, Y/n can find their way up to the roof and help Adelita with the fireworks" Mirabel replied "She's been struggling with them..."

"Great! I know how to get on the roof!" Camilo exclaimed.

Camilo was just about to yank me wherever we needed to go to get to the roof but Mirabel put her hand on his chest, stopping him from going any further.

"Huh?" Camilo said, looking at Mirabel.

"Why are you going with them?" Mirabel asked "It's their job to help with decorations, you're free right now, why don't you go out in town or something?"

"Why? Do you not want me here?" Camilo asked, jokingly.

"No! It's just...You always take advantage of your free time!" Mirabel said "I know that you barely have any. I'm just saying that you don't need to help, you can just relax if you want."

It was nice of Mirabel to reassure him. It was true, he barely ever had any freetime, it's part of the reason why he skips school sometimes.

"I know but...I wanna spend time with Y/n" Camilo replied "If they need help decorating, I'll do that too!"

Mirabel's eyes went wide and her lips parted slightly as she gasped softly. She shook her head quickly and when she stopped, her face was back to normal.

"Oh! Okay, that makes sense! You can go!" Mirabel said "Y/n, can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure!" I answered before turning to face Camilo "I'll find you later, you go start helping Adelita."

Camilo hesitated for a moment. He was probably thinking about how he was supposed to stay beside me at all times.

"I can handle myself, Cami" I said "This'll be quick, I promise."

Camilo nodded before letting go of my hand and running upstairs. I turned back to Mirabel, who looked like she was holding back excitement.

"What's up, Mirabel?" I asked.

"He totally likes you!" Mirabel exclaimed, jumping up and down.

I blinked dumbly at her for a moment before realizing that she meant Camilo.

"No, he doesn't" I replied "How did you get that from that conversation?"

"He NEVER gives up his freetime for anyone, not even his friends" Mirabel explained "You must be really special to him if he'd rather help decorate with you than relax in his room or stroll alone through town."

I knew that I was special to him but it was because I was someone that he could open up to about his identity issues. Although, I couldn't just say that to Mirabel.

"It's not like that," I said.

"Are you kidding me?" Mirabel asked, sarcastically "You two hold hands all the time! Dolores told us that Tia Pepa caught you two cuddling!"

"We're very close, I'll admit that" I replied "But there's no feelings there!"

I didn't know if that was true. There are times when I can't help but stare at Camilo. To be honest, I didn't know how to feel about him. Even if I was sure that I liked him, I wouldn't do anything about it because right now, all he needs is a friend that he can talk to.

"You haven't seen how he looks at you," Mirabel said, smiling softly at me.

Our conversation was cut short when I heard Camilo call my name from above us. I looked for him on the second story but I didn't find him.

"I'm up here, Y/n!" Camilo yelled.

I looked to see where the voice was coming from. Then, I found Camilo on the roof, looking down at us.

"Camilo?!" I exclaimed "Isn't that dangerous?!"

"I'm fine!" Camilo replied "If I fall, Adelita will catch me!"

"I'm not promising anything," Adelita said, jokingly.

"Haha..." Camilo said, sarcastically.

"How did you get up there, Cami?!" I asked.

"Wait right there! I'll go down and get you!" Camilo yelled.
