I fell asleep last night to the comforting thought of the valentine's day dance. I woke up to the feeling of someone brushing my hair out of my face. I blinked and squinted at the figure sitting on the bed next to me. When they noticed that my eyes were open, they pulled their hand away quickly.

"Mmm..." I groaned as I stretched.

"Y/n, you're up" the person said "I...I was just...I don't know."

"Camilo?" I asked once I recognized the voice of who I was talking to.

"Yeah, I'm sorry for waking you up!" Camilo replied "I didn't mean to, I was just trying to push the hair out of your face."

I sat up in my bed which concerned Camilo.

"No, it's okay, you can go back to sleep!" Camilo said "We have a lot of time before we have to start getting ready for school!"

"Oh...Shoot, I forgot" I said "We have school..."

"Haha, yeah" Camilo said "Don't worry, it won't be too bad."

Usually Camilo complained about school any chance that he got so I was surprised at his optimism about it.

"Other than the lovey-dovey couples in the hallway and the confessions and stuff, we should be fine!" Camilo added, cheerfully.

"Huh?" I asked "Why would there be couples and confessions today?"

Camilo tilted his head and gave me a confused look.

"You're kidding, right?" Camilo asked "Yesterday was September sixteenth?"

"Yeah, and?" I asked, still not understanding "What does that have to do with-"

My eyes went wide with the realization.

"Oh! Oh, Camilo, I'm sorry!" I said, immediately apologizing "I totally forgot about Dia de San Valentin!"

Camilo let out a sweet airy laugh that made my worries go away for a bit.

"No worries, Valentine," Camilo replied.

"Cami, I know that we're Valentines but you don't need to call me that" I said "Some people might get the wrong idea."

"What if...I want them to get the wrong idea?" Camilo asked, his eyes avoiding mine.

"What do you mean?" I asked, sitting up in my bed.

"Well...Not to brag but I'm expecting a few confessions and love letters today..." Camilo explained "So I thought it would be a good idea if I flaunted you being my valentine so that people might leave me alone?"

I gave him an unimpressed look.

"Really? You're gonna show me off just so that you don't have to reject a few people today?" I asked in a monotone voice.

"I-It's- I'm just really bad at rejecting people!" Camilo told me "I dance around it so much that people don't know that I'm rejecting them! It just causes a lot of problems!"

"Camilo! You can't just use me to get out of doing that!" I said "You just need to be more direct!"

"But I don't want to hurt their feelings!" Camilo whined, flopping onto my bed.

"Their feelings are going to be hurt regardless!" I said "Just stop dancing around it and just say 'I'm sorry, I don't feel the same way about you but I hope that we can still be friends.'"

"That's what I do!" Camilo said "More or less...But some people are really, REALLY persistent! They keep asking me questions as to why and I just- Ugh!"
