3rd person pov
The first thing Namjoon noticed was the smell.
A smell that aggressively coated the air, almost chocking the two men.
Rotting flesh.
The whole car park was covered in a thick layer of blood that seemed to ooze and bubble.
At the centre of the blood lagoon stood a large tower of zombies, all mangled and twisted. Their bodies all seemed to mush together as though there were no bones in them, or the bones that were there were completely and utterly shattered. Flies swarmed round them, sitting on the bodies and slowly beginning to enjoy the feast presented to them on a bloody platter.
Jimin- "Oh my god..." he practically whispered to himself, breaking the silence between him and a speechless Namjoon.
Namjoon- "W..where's the car?" he stuttered out, a mix of panic, confusion and fear.
The two men began to walk towards the pile of zombies, hoping that somehow the car was hidden behind it or at least get some kind of sign the others were okay.
Jimin had to hold back from vomiting as the blood squelched beneath his shoes, Namjoon was too distracted by the smell to even notice Jimin's visceral reaction. All he could think about was that consuming smell, he didn't know if it would ever leave his nose, he knew he certainly wouldn't be able to forget it.
Jimin- "Namjoon, look..." he reached a hand out, pointing to what he had found.
Namjoon followed his gaze along Jimin's out stretched arm and saw the single deflated tire left on the parking lots floor, covered in blood.
Namjoon- "Let's check inside the shop." He commanded, a sense of hope for finding the others laced his voice.
The two men took shallow breaths as they walked towards the doors, trying to breath in as little of the rotting corpse scent as possible.
They walked together, clutching their respective weapons tightly. The shop wasn't overly that big so they should have been able to see signs of the others, if not hear them, but it was silent. Hope seemed dwindling as the boys headed down their 4th isle with no sight or clue to where the others were. The only clue was the huge pile of bodies outside but neither man was ready to accept that.Jimin- "Oh!" he quietly exclaimed to himself as he reached down to grab something. "I knew it." he subtlety smiled while looking at the needle and thread set. 'this will be perfect to fix y/n's teddy bear' he thought.
Namjoon hadn't heard Jimin nor had he seen him stop walking, leading the taller man to continue walking and searching, separating the two men.
This would be a mistake both men would swiftly learn to regret.
Jimin- "Namjoon look! For Y/n's teddy." he exclaimed to the figure behind him who he presumed to be Namjoon, trying to lighten the mood so they knew there was at least one positive of the shop search so far.
Namjoon- "Jimin?" he called out from a couple isles along, making Jimin's heart sink further into his chest.
'If Namjoon's over there, who's behind-' Jimin didn't have time to finish thinking before he turned, swiftly grabbing out the knife and stabbing the grotesque creature who had began to lean over him. Quickly, Jimin retracted his knife and stood up, reaching to stab it in its head which made the most revolting crunch noise as the knife pierced through the skull. The man grimaced, whipping the blood off his face as the creature slumped to the floor, its body piling into itself.
Jimin pants in relief that the zombie was now dead but he couldn't be too happy, due to the unsettling sound outside.
A slugging sound that echoed around the shop, getting louder and louder. Whatever it was, it was getting closer and closer.
Looking out the large glass window doors that were already smudged with grime and blood, the man saw it.
A horde of zombies tumbling over one another as they trudged towards the shop, searching for their next meal.
They were getting closer, far too close. And there were too many to kill, even if it had been all 8 of them, they could never take on this many beasts at once.
Jimin heard footsteps pummelling towards him and all he could do was run. He ran and hid. The young man was terrified, he didn't want to die here. He didn't want to die alone.
Namjoon had just ran round the corner to get Jimin, having seen the horde from a window near the last isle, but he couldn't see Jimin.
He wanted to search for Jimin so they could hide somewhere together but he knew that was futile, the creatures were far too close to search for the other young man and if they heard him call for Jimin, the zombies would only come faster knowing they were in there.
All Namjoon could do was try find a safe place to hide for himself and hope Jimin managed to do the same.
He quickly went to the right end of the store where he had just searched for clues and quietly opened the 'manager's office' door.
Sliding his body into the dingy room, he grabbed one of the chairs in the office and propped it against the door handle, hoping that would slightly block the door as he continued to make his barricade.
He looked out the small window on the door and saw a sight that broke his heart.
Jimin was tucked away in the corner of the shop, clutching his chest trying to steady his breathing.
Always being a logical man, Namjoon knew it was wrong but he couldn't deal with seeing Jimin look so scared. He began to tear down his barricade of the desk, chair and shelf, prepared to risk his life to get to Jimin but before he could, the glass doors of the shop shattered.
The horde were here.
