"So, uh... speaking of monsters," Dustin suddenly spoke up. His voice was soft and shakey as if he were fearing the next words that were about to come out of his mouth. And he only began to freak out even more as Eddie looked over at him with an unreadible expression on his face, "Lucas has to do.. uh - his, uh, balls in laundry baskets game so..." Dustin tried to laugh it off, but the whole table had fallen silent and all attention was now on him, "he's not going to be able to make it to hellfire tonight."

Eddie had gone unually quiet, but his chewing became more violent as he stared at Dustin. Some of the other boys around the table gave each other looks, clearly not happy with the news. Adira gave Dustin a small nod, to tell him that it was okay.

"And I know that there is no way that we can beat your sadistic campaign without him. So me and mike -"

"Mike and I," Adira corrected softly, earning a glare from Dustin

"Mike and I, we were talking, shooting the shit, and we were thinking that maybe we might..." Dustin tried to finish his sentence but he was taking too long so Mike couldn't help but finish it for him

"Postpone," Mike finished, his voice slightly raised

"POSTPONE!?" All the other boys except Eddie yelled out at the ludicrously that had fallen from the boys mouths

"You cant just drop this on us!"

"Postpone?"

"Over my dead body."

Adira wanted to tell the boys to chill out a little but decided it probably wasn't a good idea when a majority of them weren't exactly 'fans' of the girl

"Shut up!" Eddie yelled out over all of their arguing and they all quickly fell silent before turning to look at Eddie, "are you saying Sinclair has been taken in by the dark side?"

"Yes obi-wan that is exactly what they are saying," Adira said in amusement

"Yeah something like that," Mike muttered out

"something like that?" Eddie asked and threw a pretzel stick over at Mike.

"Jesus christ," Dustin choked out as Mike cursed and tried to dogde the pretzel stick

"And rather than find a sub for him, you want... you want to postpone 'The Cult of Vecna'?" Eddie scowled out and Adira only now realized how much this game meant to them

"I... I don't want to postpone it. We don't want to postpone it," he quickly replied, referring to him and Dustin who were scared out of their minds right now for how Eddie was reacting and how he was going to keep on reacting, "Its just that-"

Eddie pushed his seat back and stood up before beginning to pace around

"- you know, most of the subs will be at the championship game."

Eddie quickly turned his body to look directly at Mike, "oh, its the championship game?" Eddie asked.

"yeah..." Mike trailed off

"Can I level with you?" Eddie asks Mike, cutting the boy off guard, "Jeff graduates this year. Gareths got, what? A year and a half? Me, I am army-crawling my way towards a D in Ms. O'Donnell's. If I don't blow her final, I'm gonna walk that stage next month," he begins to do a funny little strut which earns more giggles from the table, "I'm going to look Principle Higgins dead in the eye, I'm gonna flip him the bird..."

Eddie begins to raise his finger up in the air towards the Jock table before pulling it back down again, "i am going to snatch that diploma and I'm gonna run like hell outta here." Dustin laughs loudly, catching the attention of Eddie once more

"Didnt you say that last year?" Jeff calls out to Eddie as he practically dances around the cafeteria

"And the year before that?" Gareth added

"Yeah yeah, and I was full of shit. This year is different. This year is my year. I can feel it. 86 baby," he said with a wide grin on his face, a grin that should have eased the anxious feeling Adira was feeling within her stomach, but there was just something about it and the luck of Hawkins that made her feel like something would get in the way of that... like something bad would happen to him and then it would indeed, not be his year.

She tried to brush her worries off, not wanting to jinx anything and instead tried to focus on the happy tone that he was talking in, she shouldn't expect everything to always turn out for the worst... they killed the mind flayer so there is nothing else to worry about right?

"Do you know what that means?" Eddie asked Mike and Dustin, both of them shook their head

"It means that you boys," he walked up behind them and shook their shoulders in his hands, "are the future of hellfire. I knew it the moment that I saw you. You sat at that table right over there, looking like... looking like two little lost sheep."

Dustin chuckled, beginning to crack more and more under the pressure that he was feeling, he was sure that he was about to explode. Eddie got down near Dustins face, "you were wearing a Weird Al T-shirt, which I thought was brave," Eddie told him. Adira snorted in laughter next to Dustin who turned to glare at her, quickly shutting her up

"thank you," Dustin choked out to Eddie

"And Mike, you were wearing whatever shit your mommy bought you from the goddamn Gap," Eddie joked, causing the table to laugh once more. Mike and Dustin were laughing along when suddenly Eddie grabbed the back of their collars and heaved them up out of their seats and stood them up to face the table that they had once sat at when they were loners, "we showed you that school didn't have to be the worst years of your lives, right?"

"No," Mike said quickly

"No. Well, I'm here to tell you that there are other little lost sheepies out there who need help," he said and made the boys turn to look at all of the tables around them, "who need you. And all you guys have got to do is get your Bo-Peeps on, and go and find one." Eddie said and then shoved Mike and Dustin

"What about Adira?" Dustin asked quickly

"Yeah, no," the girl quickly said, she didn't plan on spending her Friday night in Eddies basement playing D&D with a bunch of teen boys, "I think I'm gonna have to take a pass on that, sorry guys," she said to them all, but mainly Dustin and Mike

"Oh come on Addy, you are good at the game and I know that you arent busy tonight, it will be fun and we need you," Dustin practically begged her

"Sorry champ, but I already made up my mind," Adira said to him and shook her head

"well cant you just un-make your mind up?" Mike asked her

"Nope," she said and shrugged her shoulders before standing up and walking over to them, "I will however accompany you on this quest to find you a new sub," she said with a grin, she had nothing better to do so she figured why not?

Mike and Dustin quickly nodded their heads, while neither of them would verbally admit it, the two of them loved having her company, she was fun and cool to be around.

She turned to eddie with a small smile on her face, "see ya later."
