Eddie ignored the yelling and screaming as he ran out the door and grabbed onto one of the bikes. He didn't want to leave them there, he wanted to run back and pull Adira into his arms and then never let go. He wanted to get her out of there and run away, leave town so that the two of them could start a life together. But he knew that wasn't going to happen.

This is it. This is my moment.

There were millions of thoughts rushing through his head.

Will I be remembered

Will I be remembered as a hero or a murderer?

Will Adira forget about me?

Who's going to look after the kids?
Steve and Adira would.

I'm a strong enough?

Am I a hero?

He couldn't stop the thoughts racing through his mind but he pushed them away just enough so that he could pedal as fast as he possibly could.

The cool wind blew violently against his face and his breath became loud and uneven, he had done more exercise today than he had done in his whole life

The bats all followed after him, leaving the house just like he had wanted. Their loud screeches only made the situation worse, he wanted to look back but he knew that it would only slow him down

"Come on Dustin, quickly! Hurry Dustin, we don't have much time!" Adira sobbed as they continued to throw a bunch of random furniture into a pile under the portal, "alright that should be enough," she muttered and then stepped back before running up and then jumping once she got to the pile of furniture.

She got high enough that her arms and head were in the upside down so she used all the upper body strength that she could muster and then pulled herself up. She didn't wait for Dustin instead she told him to, "stay here, if anything were to happen to you I would never forgive myself." So that he wouldn't get hurt, but of course he wasn't going to listen to that, his two best friends were running out into the open where there were bloodthirsty demon bats everywhere

Adira ran out of the house, Dustin struggled to pull himself up and landed on the floor with a loud cry of pain. He shook it off and ran after Adira, he was close on her trail, running out the door about 10 seconds after her.

Adira watched from the distance as Eddie got thrown off his bike by the bats. He began running for his life, he looked around for somewhere that he could hide but he couldnt see anything.

Adira was relatively fast, she ran as fast as she could,  but he had been on a bike and was so far away, she doubted she was going to make it in time, but that only made her push harder

But it was his next action that sent shivers through out her entire body. He stopped running. He stopped and turned around to look at her as she ran to him

"No eddie no!" She screamed

"Eddie keep fucking running!" She begged him, her tears didn't last long as her face as they either ran straight off or dried up from the air smashing against her face, "please, please eddie!"

"Eddie! Eddie stop!" Dustin yelled in a desperate manner, limping as he ran

Eddie grabbed his stick and his shield and then began bashing the two of them together, the bats began to circle him over his head and then they all came flying down at him

"No!" Adira screamed out, she could hear Dustin yelling out to Eddie from behind her, he was no where near as fast as Adira but the situation had given him some kind of ability to run faster than ever before, despite the pain in his leg from falling on it.
