Y/n sat on the couch and Fukuzawa sat on the couch across from mine, a table separating. The room was completely silent aside from the sound of cars on the streets and the jangling of the chains on her shackled wrist. She avoided eye contact, while the man behind her stared at her.

"So," he started, "how did you end up attached to the bench?"

"Umm, well, you know, girl drama," he looked questioningly, "Can't get help from your determined friend so you just lock her up to a bench." He stared back unamused by the joke.

"Y/n, I understand that I told you to call me if you need help, but why didn't you call a parent or a family member."

"I...I didn't try because I knew no one would pick up" She said while tearing up.

"Is someone not at home with you?"

"No, my mom's in America and she's busy with work."

"And your father?"

"Papa was supposed to be here."

" Do you know where he is?"

" No, I told my mom but she said she didn't expect much from him in the first place."

"If that's the case then why hasn't your mother brought you home?"

"She's busy I guess, wouldn't want me getting in between her and her new boyfriend."

"Do you have any other relatives?"

"I've got a cousin here but he's pretty distant and I don't know him that well, he's a distant cousin on my moms side. The only thing I really remember about him is what my mom told me and the old pictures she has. I don't have anyone on my dad's side and everyone else on my mom's side is still in America. So's my brother but he's not exactly the nurturing type so I don't really talk to him that much."

"So you have no caretaker"

"*sniff* no" Tears streaked the girls face. The girl was looking down at the ground in shame, humiliation. She couldn't meet the man's eyes. The first person to welcome her with open arms and sincereity, now being shown how unwanted she is. Being tossed to the side like an old toy, being treated as if a burden, or hinderance.

"If you have trouble with school or home life, you can stay at the agency or, I'm sure Yosano or Haruno would be willing to open their doors for a night or two." The man moved around the table so he and the girl shared on of the couches

"Thank you, but you don't need to do that"

"Y/n, your just a child, you need a stable and consistent adult in your life. Your can't handle life on your own yet, no matter how much you convince yourself otherwise. I'm willing to help you and provide you with that adult. I just need you to accept my help." He said while rubbing the girl's head.

"Ok, I accept thanks," She says lifting her head and finally making eye contact with the man. "I'll make it up to you one day"

"How about you start by bring the agency snacks again. I've heard many good things about a bakery down the street."

"Got it Mr. Fukuzawa. I'll bring them as soon as I finish my painting."

"Good, It's getting late your should head home and maybe someone should go with you,"

"Yeah your right, I heard that this city has a lot of mafia activity. I wouldn't want to get snatched up."

"Yes, also may I call into your school. I assume you don't want to go with a handcuff attached to your wrist."

"Oh, your right, yeah that would be great thank you." The girl walked out and told the detectives she was leaving and asked if someone could walk her home. Atsushi took up the opportunity to avoid having Dazais work pushed off onto him

"Thanks for walking me home Atsushi"

"It's alright I don't mind. It's nice to talk to you for once, not at a crime scene."

"hehe, your right but you're a detective so your gonna have to get used to it."

"I guess your right." The girl and boy walked down the streets of Yokohama. The girl lead calmly and relaxed, while the boy couldn't help but feel on edge. He hid his paranoia and goosebumps to keep the girl relaxed but he checked behind him just to put his mind at ease. He saw nothing of concern, just people. A group of delinquent teenagers, police officers, and Hospital workers going to a night shift. He saw nothing to worry about but he still did.

"Atsushi?"

"uh, yeah, sorry, I was zoning out. What were you saying?" He said breaking from his daze.

"This is my complex" the girl pointed to the concrete building.

"I assume you'll be fine from here then"

"Yeah, thanks Atsushi, be safe"

"You too" The boy waved and returned to the Atsushi.

Atsushi POV

I entered the agency. The anxiety disappeared halfway through the walk back to the agency. But I couldn't help but worried what was that? It was night time and sure there is crime in Yokohama but we weren't by any Port Mafia territory.

"You alright Atsushi," Dazai asked.

"Umm, yeah, I just got a bad feeling on my walk to Y/ns house"

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know, I just felt off"

"Hmm, that's interesting. Do you still feel that way?"

"Well, no"

"Then everything fine right, just let it go."

"Ok"

Dazai seemed uninterested about my worry but Ranpo seemed bothered.
