(One Week Later)Arthur Leywin
It's been a week since I brother left, or was chased out, we all took it and dealt with it in our own ways. Some of us took it a little harder than others, for example, my mother, but that made sense, since the two of them were so close.
Sylvie hadn't left the room since, she's been silent, cold, sad, it's hard to talk to her about it. I still had trouble thinking about everything, Tessia was either dead or hiding out somewhere, I didn't know which, but I truly believed that Veer didn't kill her, he just wants us to think that to make us become stronger from her death.
My dad was dealing with it, by dealing with my mother, trying to make sure she was okay, but I don't think she will be until he comes back, alive and well, but even then, he may be different.
I was sitting in the council room, Elder Virion called a meeting, this was the second one after Veer's disappearance, which should tell you a lot, because we are at war and a lot has been going on.
However, we do know that three council members lost a daughter, granddaughter, and they additionally lost a child they loved in Veer. I tried to push my mind away from those thoughts, and try to focus on what I could do, for example, I gave the bestowal staff to Elder Virion, who got it to Gideon to figure it out.
I had been looking at Sylvia's core, but at the moment I couldn't figure out what I could do with it. I know when I touched it, the purple dots of aether appeared, so I figured this could be the key to obtaining full control of my beast will.
"Arthur..." Elder Virion said, and I looked up at him. "Are you okay?" He asked me, and I nodded my head, motioning for him to go on. In the room was Buhnd, Elder Virion, King Eralith, King and Queen Glayder, and me. There were no Lances here, they were all on missions, I was responsible for guarding the castle at the moment. "It appears that the ships are about a week out."
"With Varay's return, the shore's defense should increase." King Glayder said. "And with Bairon at the head, the defense around the city is also increasing, but with their numbers, the fight will be a tough one."
"Especially without Virion." Buhnd mumbled, and we all turned to him. "Sorry, I shouldn't have said that, Arthur." He turned to me and asked. "In your opinion, do you think your brother will show up at Etistin?"
"If I had to guess, yes, with everything he has done, I believe he will." I told him, knowing that Veer was going to do something that day. His presence alone would boost the morale, the people love him, Elder Virion decided to keep it secret that he killed Tessia.
"The defense is being set up, Arthur, I still feel like you should be taking the lead though, anyway I can get you to change your mind?" Elder Virion asked. "Bairon is a good strategist, and leader, however, I know what you are capable of, but if you aren't up to it after Virion's departure, I 'll accept that."
"I'll have to decline once again; I am just not up to it." I told him, not wanting to be a leader in that type of battle. I couldn't be responsible for something like that, I just couldn't, too many memories of being King Grey and a leader.
"I assumed that would be the case." He said, and he kept on talking. "They'll be here in a week, Arthur, I will be sending you and Aya to aid them." The instant thought of what Veer told me about the battle in Etistin appeared in my mind, Aya wasn't involved in that battle, so things have changed. "We are going to need everyone, hopefully, I am not planning on it, but if Virion shows up, we will have five Lances there fighting for victory, a lose most likely means defeat."
"He will." King Eralith said. "It's the least he can do after what he did." He shook his head thinking about it, the anger was on his face, but I knew he understood Veer's situation.
