This old man has to be working in the most faraway place, it's so goddamn annoying. I was walking through the tunnels that led to the bunker where all the rooms are, I had already passed Elder Rinia's, I was heading to Gideon's lab.
In the novel, he doesn't come to the bunker for quite some time, and he didn't have a job like this. I need him to get the Bestowal Staff to work, then everyone in here, no matter if they are a mage or not, will get an upgrade.
I can also feel that inside of his laboratory, something Buhnd built for him, where two other people, of course, Emily was one of them, she was always with Gideon, and if their age difference wasn't so noticeable, I would say that they were together, but that was clearly not the case. The other person was Kathyln, someone I rarely speak with nowadays, but at times, she'll come up to me and make conversation, I think she tries to communicate with me; however, she can't find the courage to do it, which is fine.
I think Kathyln was with them because inside of the tunnels were mana beast, small ones, nothing serious, but if one would show itself, Kathyln would be able to kill it with ease. I could track them, they were nothing, and probably won't show themselves while I am here, they know they wouldn't stand a chance against me, so they weren't stupid mana beast.
When I finally arrived at the door of their laboratory, I swung it up open, not knocking, and the three people in the room swung their heads towards me. "Jeez, you brat, don't do something like that!" Gideon said, eyeing me up as I walked into the room, the three of them stood around a table with countless artifacts hooked up to the Bestowal Staff.
"Hey, Virion, don't mind him." Emily said, stepping up and giving me a hug. "You, okay?" She asked as she released me, I noticed that Gideon looked a lot older, he was truly an old fart now, that goes without saying anymore.
"I'm fine, I came to check up on you guys." I spoke truthfully, giving her a sympathetic smile, but a fake on. "How's everything going here, Gideon, Emily? Are you close to figuring this staff out?" I can see that they haven't figured it out yet, so it might have been a waste coming here, but the real me wanted it, so it's fine.
"It's going, well, we haven't been able to crack the code yet." Emily said, speaking up for Gideon. "You told us it needs aether to activate, or it needs something else, we are trying our best to figure it out, but we are having a lot of trouble."
"Yeah, it doesn't come with goddamn instructions!" Gideon said, throwing an artifact down on the table. "Why couldn't you have taken those too from the Alacryans?" He looked at me, and it looked like he was being serious, which was funny.
"I thought that the so called smarted person in Dicathen could figure it out." I shook my head as I looked at him, then at Emily, then back to him. "But I guess I was wrong; you aren't the smartest person."
"Oh! I am, I just need a little more time, just you watch, in time, I'll figure this Bestowal Staff out, and everyone in Dicathen will become a mage, well, the people here." He said, looking proud as he thought about figuring the staff out, I nodded, then looked over to Kathyln, the Princess was being very silent, but that is normal.
"Kathlyn, how have you've been?" I asked the Princess, trying to be polite in this situation, which I thought was the right thing to do as a clone. Her black hair was dangling past her shoulders as she wore a black dress, no armor, the dress had blue lining in it, and it reached all the way down to her ankles.
"I've been good." She answered me, giving me a serious expression. "How have you been, Virion, are you getting better?" Of course, she was referring to Sylvie's death, that was the last thing we spoke about when we were alone together a while ago.
