My Beginning After the End Downfall

Execution Pt. VI

"You saved Lance Varay?" My mother said, walking up in front of everyone with a smile on her face. "A clone, you are so clever, Veer." She said, hugging him. "Good job, I am proud of you." The people started to clap, but for some reason my heart was still racing, I wasn't scared or anything, or was I scared, Virion wasn't telling us something.

The people started to cheer, celebrating the return of their Lance, one of the stronger ones, but I stayed still, looking at the two Veers as they exchanged hugs with people. I thought back to my conversation with Veer earlier this week, he said he was thinking of a plan to free Varay, but if he was going to do it like this, with ease it looked like, why didn't he tell anyone?

That's when the artifact device lit up, catching all of our attention, the image started to form, and when it did, it was of a stage, on it, stood a purple haired woman with black emotionless eyes.

She looked into the artifact and began to speak. "People of Dicathen, I am Scythe Viessa, the Regent of this continent, most of you know why we are here today, but in case you don't, I'll be happy to explain the event planned."

There were citizens and soldiers in front of the stage, I couldn't tell how many exactly due to the angle of the artifact, but if it's the city, I have to imagine that it numbers over fifty thousand, however, that doesn't count the number of people watching it on their artifacts.

"We will be executing a rebel known as Lance Varay, she has broken countless Vritra laws, and no matter her status, rules are rules, if you break the law, you will be punished." She waved her arms to the side. "If you don't want to end up like your Lance, obey, and you will be granted an easy and good life, disobey, and you will die just like her."

"What is she talking about?" It was my dad that asked, turning to Varay and saying. "You are right here, so who are they executing?" He swung around to the two Veers. "Veer? Any idea?" Oh no, I knew something was wrong.

"I'm sorry." Veer said, I pulled out my bow, catching the people around me off guard, conjuring an arrow and shooting it at Veer, but he caught the arrow, his eyes settling on me for a second. "It appears you figured it out, big sister."

"What?" My mom said as my arrow faded away and I placed my bow back on my back, they are both clones! "What's going on? Veer? Mind explaining why your sister just shot an arrow at you?"

"They are both clones!" I said, stepping up past Lilia, Curtis, and Kathyln, looking at where Veer was. "Isn't that, right? The real you is in Etistin, isn't he? You plan on attacking them on the stage even though you know they are trying to capture you!"

"I'm sorry, I'll be back, give me like three hours." Veer said, and the two Veers both turned into blood, dissolving onto the ground, catching all of us off guard, my mom's eyes were wide, well, everyone's eyes were wide at this point in utter confusion.

"Everyone!" Scythe Viessa said, before her, on the ground, was Lance Varay, a spitting image of her at least. "Your Lance here has been sentenced to death by sword, and when she is killed, everyone will learn that disobedience means death." The Scythe pulled out a short black sword and held it at her side.

"Where is Veer?" My mother asked looking around, Lance Varay, Aya, and Bairon all seemed confused, everyone was, we all thought that was the real one. "Did he really go to Etistin by himself?"

"It appears so." Elder Virion said, and then walked up to my mother, my heart was racing watching the screen as the Scythe lifted the blade up into the sky. "He must not have told anyone because he knew we would try to stop him." Tessia was the only one that didn't seem fazed, like she knew something.

"Not again." My mother said, tears flowing out of his eyes. "Why does he feel the need to do everything himself? He is only a boy!" The bunker fell silent as everyone turned to the screen and the Lance Varay on the screen smirked through the artifact.
