My Beginning After the End Downfall

Tower Zone Pt. I

"Let's get ready for this next zone." Fenyir said as we stood before the portal, getting ready to head through it. "You ready? I slept good, I'm wide awake, it's perfect!" She seemed to be in a very good mood all of a sudden, I guess he did need some sleep, I mean, she slept for a couple of hours on me.

"Yep." I replied, giving her a smile as we stepped through the portal together, let's flickering in and out as we got through it, but it was very smooth. "Interesting." I spoke first as a sky came into view, a blue sky, not a cloud in the sky, but that wasn't all, around us were small black railings protecting us from falling over I suspected.

"It's like a tower." Fenyir said, getting closer to the edge and leaning on the railing to look down, I turned toward the center of the platform, on the ground was a staircase, it led straight down, but it was a spiral one, cool design. "Come look at this, Veer."

I turned back from the stairs and walked over to the railing, leaning on it next to her, looking below. "Wow." I said, taking in the sight of the clouds, we must be really high up if there are clouds there. "Pretty cool, I'm not going to lie." I sent her a smile as I backed up, turning back to the stairs.

"Yeah, I know right, except, we are little to high up to my liking." Fenyir replied, joining me as I looked at the stairs, but I stood there frozen as I took in this feeling. "Veer?" She said as she tilted her head examining me, trying to figure out what was wrong with me, but she quickly realized it as well. "What is this feeling? I-I, I can't put my finger on it."

"We can't use mana." I told her, answering the question she had just asked. "I don't feel the blood in either of us, hold on, Hades, come on out." I said, and as I did, my bond came out of my body in its small form. "Can you use mana?"

"I can't." He said, then looking around. "Which means I can't get bigger than this, I'm stuck in this baby serpent form." I smirked at him, and he smirked back, catching me off guard. "I don't think I want to be with you right now, Fenyir, I'm going into your blood stream."

I could use aether, I could feel it in the air, sadly, all I got was healing techniques, but that could come in handy at some point, even if I don't know how to use it that well yet.

"What?" Fenyir exclaimed as Hades entered her blood, and I shrugged. "Alright, yep, I don't like that." She nodded her head as she looked down at the ground, trying to figure out what had just happened.

"So, mana isn't usable in this zone, that is just perfect, honestly, just perfect." I rolled my eyes as we stood before the stairs, looking down at the spiral staircase that seemed to go on forever, there was a gap in the center that revealed the lower levels. "I assume we have to go down the stairs, but I am not one hundred percent."

"I don't see anything else to do." Fenyir added, and that's when I saw it, about thirty yards down, heading this way, were mana beasts, they looked like ogres, green ones, holding weapons in their hands. "I'll head down first, you know, since..." She stopped talking as she took in the sight as well.

"Fuck me." I said as I stepped in front of her. 'This isn't good.' I thought to Hades, and I received a mental head nod from him. "Oh and look at that." I pointed at a barrel on the one platform down the first set of stairs, it had weapons in it. "We have to defend the tower without mana, this is just great."

I started down the stairs, looking down at the marching ogres, I saw about twenty of them. "What!" She exclaimed loudly, but I kept on going down, making sure I had a weapon as fast as I could. "Without mana, we are going to die within seconds!"

I got to the barrel as Fenyir stood halfway up the stairs. "I wouldn't say seconds, but what else are we going to do." I shrugged as I pulled a sword out of the barrel, it was light, perfectly sized for me. "I'll protect you for as long as I can, Fenyir."
