Kara's POV

Alex and I step through the banners welcoming all the kids into camp and I am already overwhelmed by the noise of everyone around us.

 "Do I really have to stay the entire summer?" I ask Eliza

"Yes. This will be good for you Kara. You need to make friends the same age as you and this is the perfect way to do it." Eliza explains as she checks us in and starts walking us to our cabin. "Alex this is you.." I start walking in with her but Eliza clears her throat "Actually Kara you are in a different cabin." 

"Seriously Eliza? I am barely literate in English and Alex is literally the only person I know-"

"That's the point time to make friends," Eliza says a little harshly before pointing at the cabin I am assuming is mine. I glare at her and feel my heat vision start to turn on so I shut my eyes and turn away from her as I walk to my cabin I hear her say "And no powers" under her breath. 

"UGH," I yell as I gently slam the door hoping it doesn't come off the hinges or bring the entire building down. 

"Not excited to be here?" I turn to the voice and see my roommate lying down on her bed. The room was pretty basic. Two beds two dressers a bathroom two desks and some space to walk around. 

"Not particularly. Who actually enjoys being stuck out in the woods for two months" 

"Every person besides you who is here. I am Lena." 

A second later a loudspeaker announced that the camp's first all-camp gathering was about to start. 

I just translated the words into Kryptonese in my brain when I realized I had no idea where I was going and my roommate had already left the cabin. I run after her having to use a bit of X-ray vision to actually find her in the forest.

The noise was just too much. Kara was told by Eliza that the forest would be peaceful and quiet compared to the farm with all the animals. 

That was a lie. 

I nearly went deaf from the fucking dumbass cheers and now I am sitting by the lake trying to shut out all the noise. 

The forest wasn't quiet every single animal's pulse and breathing were rushing into my ears as well as every single person in camp and all of their conversations. 

It just was too much a bury my head in between my knees trying to smother the noise

Someone touches my arm and I react instinctively and shove the person away. 

The only thing that knocks me out of my spiral of too many noises was the cry out of pain right in front of me. 

I look up and see my bunkmate standing from the lake drenched in water and holding her eye as blood sleeps in between her fingers. 

My eyes widen and I run away as I quietly say "I'm sorry!" 

Once I am out of sight I disappear deep into the forest and hide up in a tree and just start to cry.

Alex's POV

I am just sitting down for dinner when the doors are thrown up and I hear Lena's voice say "Need help!" Before a loud crash. 

My eyes widen and I run over to her she is bleeding from a deep cut through her eyebrow and down through her eye. 

I immediately grab someone's napkin and put pressure on her eye as I pray that she hasn't lost sight in her eye from the cut.
