"Why do you keep getting secretive every time you look at your phone?" Toby asks as I look at him, how can I tell him that A is messaging me again, or trying to destroy my life once again?
"I'm not." I simply say. Toby gives me that look, when he knows that I'm lying. Which makes me want to tell him more.
"Come on, Lay. I know when you are lying." Toby admits as I roll my eyes and stand up, with Toby shortly following after.
"Its A, isn't it?" Toby says as it takes me back, I look at him shocked, even though I'm suppose to lie, I just can't.
"How did you.." I trail off.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Toby asks, with frustration in his tone.
"I just-"
"You just what?! Think that you can do this by yourself!! You can't Layla, remember what happened last time? Shauna died. You can't keep secrets from me!" Toby shouts as I look at him shocked, I don't understand why he is being like this?
"Why are you being like this? I'm sorry I didn't tell you Toby." I say as Toby looks at me, shocked.
"You didn't tell me because you thought I wouldn't get hurt right? Well guess what, Layla. I am hurt, not because A is back. I'm hurt because you didn't tell me!" Toby shouts as he begins to storm out, he can't leave me, not now. I get up to follow him and grab hold of his wrist.
"Wait, please don't go." I plead as Toby looks at me, I stare into his eyes, they make me feel like I'm in a safe place, like I'm on an island paradise, as if everything is just a blur.
"Why Layla? Why didn't you tell me?" Toby says with a lower tone, as I pull my hand away. And look down.
"I want you to be safe.." I trail off again.
Toby lifts up my face begins to kiss me, which makes me feel safe, and secure.
I kiss back, obviously.
