Katniss POV- (First day of senior year)

"Good morning, class." Haymitch beams.

I glance over at Peeta and he sticks his tongue out at me.

"It is too early for this shit but this is history class as most of you know. Katniss, what do we do in history class?" Haymitch preens.

"Absolutely nothing." I reply and everyone laughs.

Haymitch snorts, "True but that's not what the principal thinks."

I smirk.

"If the principal is here, in this class, we learn. If not, you're still suppose to learn but I know you guys don't read that damn book."

"Well, we don't read it but someone does." Johanna laughs from behind.

"That's right, luckily, there is one nerd in the class who does." He says pointing to Peeta.

I laugh a little and Peeta laughs, "Well, we know you have to read the book once in a blue moon because we know you're not smart enough to know it all from memory." Peeta remarks, everyone bursts out laughing.

"You tell him!" Finnick laughs hysterically.

Haymitch chuckles, "You have no idea how badly I wish alcohol was legal inside school." He mumbles, walking past us to his desk.

"It hasn't stopped you before." Johanna mumbles.

"True. Cheers." He says, pulling a bottle from his desk drawer.

We all burst out laughing and he takes a big swig.

"Since you're all seniors, I'm gonna be honest I have nothing left to teach because I taught you everything you need to know."

"Mr. Abernathy, what is it exactly that we need to know?" A boy asks in the front.

"Don't show up to school drunk." Finnick smirks.

"Finnick." Annie snaps.

Haymitch laughs, "Oh, I hate you all."

"You're not drunk now, are you?" I ask him.

He smiles, "Not yet." He says, taking one more drink.

I smile back at him.

"Peeta, tell me one thing you did this summer." Haymitch suddenly says.

"I forgot." He says sarcastically.

Haymitch rolls his eyes, "Smart ass."

"I spent a lot of time with Katniss and her little sister." Peeta says.

"Good. Perfect. Katniss? You?"

"I spent a lot of time with Peeta and my little sister." I say sarcastically.

"I remember the beautiful days when Peeta wasn't a smart ass like you. Johanna?"

"No." She says.

"Good answer. I think we all know Katniss learned it from Johanna though." Haymitch snorts.

Finnick raises his hand.

"Yeah?"

"Can I take my phone out?"

"I really don't care but if you see anyone walk by it better go back in your pocket and no pictures. Oh and get your notebooks out."

Everyone groans.

"Oh hush. Get a piece of paper and pencil." Haymitch instructs us.

We all take paper from our notebooks and take pencils from our backpacks.
