Katniss POV- (September 17th)

"Peeta's birthday is in a couple days and I want do something special for him." I say.

"Why don't you make him a cake?" Annie suggests.

"No way." I laugh.

"Why not? What are your other ideas?" Annie asks me.

"He's a baker. His very non-baker girlfriend can't just make him a birthday cake, especially when he's seen me try to bake. I can't do it."

"Well, he still needs a cake."

"I think I'll ask his dad to help me there." I say.

"That's a good idea. What else do you have?"

"Well, I was thinking of getting him some new paints and brushes. What do you think?" I ask her.

She gives me a smile, "I think he'd like that, Kat. He loves art so I'm sure that would be perfect."

"I need to do more but I am not good at buying gifts or planning fun or romantic things. He's so great at it  For my birthday, he went all out. And I'm not creative or talented." I say truthfully.

"That's not true, Kat. But besides, he's not going to care what you do for him as long as you're there for him that day." Annie says.

She's right.

Peeta won't care if I get him the perfect gift, a cake or do anything special as long as I am with him that day but I still want to make his day perfect.

"I know but I just want to spoil him like he does me." I say truthfully.

"You know, I am so happy that everything is finally working out for you." She says, sweetly.

"Thank you, Annie. I knew things would get better with time and they did. And I am really happy the group is back together."

"Oh yeah! We are planning on getting together this Friday at Joanna's house. You and Peeta are both welcome to join us if you would like."

"Cool, I'll let him know and I'm sure we will be there because his birthday isn't until Saturday."

"Great. Let's go get his presents now." Annie tells me.

We get in the car and she drives to the craft store.

I've only been in here a few times and that's been with Peeta but luckily, I remember where everything is.

I pick him up a few packs of new brushes of all shapes and sizes. As well as a box of oil and acrylic paints, a new sketch book, a canvas, and a package of drawing pencils.

I was just going to get the paints and brushes but I want Peeta to have all this new stuff because he really deserves it and he has to buy this stuff constantly.

He is such a passionate artist and I honestly can't wait to see his face when he sees everything.

I have about two more days until I can give it to him but it's worth the wait, now if I can just talk Peeta's dad into helping me with a cake.

Afterwards, Annie takes me home and I lug all my bags inside and up to my room.

I go down stairs to a closet where my mother keeps all of our gift wrapping supplies.

I grab a few things and take it upstairs.

I carefully wrap Peeta's presents and then I call his dad.

(On the phone with Mr. Mellark)

"Mellark Bakery." His dad answers politely.

"Hi, Mr. Mellark. It's Katniss."
