the next day, violet was packed up and ready to head back to vancouver.

it almost seemed too easy, for it had been a good run with freedom and power in california.

but now that violet had more important things than a job going on, she had to settle down with what she had accomplished and hope that another good opportunity in her area would come its way in order to support her family.

she refused to let finns money be the only support system they had.

it was the late evening, the sound of drizzling rain patters outside as violet sits up against the headboard, tucked under the covers as her eyes glue to the screen of her phone.

finn lays beside her on top of the blankets, tossing a throw pillow to the air just to catch it again.
"what about delilah?"

"finn we dont even know if its a girl." she mutters, not peeling her attention off of her feed.

"landon."

"the babies a month old, it doesn't need a name yet."

he groans, throwing his arm over her legs dramatically,
"i just want to skip the pregnancy and have a baby with you."

"you and me both. you know i read online that giving birth is equivalent to the feeling of being disemboweled?"

finn lets off a laugh, sighing to get up to pull the cover back; getting comfortable next to violet as his head falls to her shoulder.
"something tells me that you'll be fine."

violet hesitates in the silence, afraid of hearing an answer that she internally dreaded.
"do you think we're thinking ahead for no reason?"

"what do you mean?"

"are we even sure that we're having this baby?"

he sighs something heavy. it wasnt a preposterous statement in his head, for he knew that a lot of things he loved in his life would be much different following after a baby. and he couldn't help but feel violet was not so into the idea of starting a family with him.
"what do you want to do?"

"i guess i-" she leans her head back with a sigh of her own,
"i guess i don't know."

"whats making you unsure?"

"you." she stares to him,
"i dont want to live every day with the idea that this whole situation was the reason why you had to give up everything that mattered to you-"

"youre what matters to me."

she stops, staring to the window in front of her with so much thought.
"please dont try to spare my feelings finn. if you're not ready, you have to tell me. because its not more important to me than your happiness."

"violet how many time do i have to say it, you are my happiness. we're ready." he takes her hand, staring at the gentleness the curling of her fingers held.
"but we should get you a doctors appointment before we tell my family. you know, just in case."

"in case the tests were wrong." she swallows harshly,
"i know."

"but dont worry about it for now." he kisses her forehead softly, laying down to his side of the bed.
"get some sleep vi, its an early morning for us."

when dawn struck the windows, violet was already awake; showered and dressed in a clean change of clothes.

she double checked the room that served her as a home for months. making sure that the only thing she came with, but left in the state, was her excitement.
