"So last month of school how does it feel?" Mal asks me
"Fine I guess I'm missing my own graduation so I don't really understand why I'm even bothering to go this last month"
"I'm sorry babe I know you're going to miss something very important to you but just make it this last month then we leave to France" Mal says and I sigh
"Hey Evelyn um someone wants to talk to you they're waiting for you out by the door" Daisy says and I furrow my eyebrows
"Uhh I gotta go monkey I'll call you later bye I love you"
"Bye baba I love you too" she says and I hang up
"Who is it?" I ask
"Just go downstairs" she says and Nessa goes with Daisy
"Officers? How may I help you?" I ask with furrowed eyebrows as I see them in front of well me
"Are you Evelyn Rodriguez" one of them asks me
"Yes that's me" I say
"We're sorry to inform you that your parents have died in a car crash earlier this morning but your sister is in the hospital and we would like for you to come with us to the hospital" The lady says
"I-I have a sister?"
"I'm sorry did you not know?" She asks me and I shake my head
"I got kicked out of the house when I was a freshman it's been four years" I admit "What's her name?"
"Her name is Julieta"
"I uh I need to go to the hospital?" I ask
"If you could that would be nice you are after all her family but we're going to the house first to just check"
"Can I go with you to the house and afterwards maybe the hospital?" I ask
"Could we come with her?" Nessa asks
"Of course follow me" the cop says and we follow behind in my car
After the fifteen minute ride we finally arrived at the house.
"I haven't been here in so long" I whisper
"Hey it's okay" Nessa says as she hugs me "Come on we're here with you" I nod
"Come in grab whatever you would like" she says and I nod as I go up the stairs and see my old room. Everything is still here. Untouched. I reached what I guess is my sisters room.
"She looks like you" Nessa says and I sniffle as I see a picture
"FUCK!" I yelled as I sobbed and punched the wall "I have a sister! My blood! My sister Nessa! MY SISTER!"
"Hey it's okay" she says as she hugs me and rubs my back "You didn't know Ev"
"My own blood" I whisper
"She's a mini you" Nessa says as she wipes my tears "Julieta what a nice name"
"You know what's funny? When I was ten I asked for a sister and I said I wanted her to be named J-Julieta"
"Maybe they were going to come around I mean it can't be a coincidence"
"She looks so small" I say
"Look a soccer ball" Nessa says and I see a soccer ball under the bed
"Um guys you might want to see this" Daisy says and we walk into my parents room
"What is it?" I ask and she holds up pictures of me at my games "They would go?"
"Look man I don't know if this is the best idea but there's a video camera" Nessa says holding it up and I nod "Alright if you say so"
"Julieta mi amor say hi to the camera!" My dad says
"Hi"
"Come on who's that" dad asks my sister as he points to the field
"Evelyn! She's the best!" My sister yelled
"Right you are bebé" my mom. My moms voice.
"Mami can we meet her?"
"Maybe soon Julieta" My mom says and Julieta frowns
"She looks like m-"
"Stop it! Stop it!" I yell
"Hey it's okay come on let's go" Nessa says
"Ma'am this house is under your name along with money"
"What?" I ask
"There's a will"
"I didn't know there was a will much less to my name"
"Well everything here and the money they have is all yours now if you could come with us to the hospital"
"I-I can't" I say
"Come on she's your sister"
"Will she make it?" I ask
"We're not sure we don't have much information" The officer says
"You go" I tell Nessa
"Come on don't be like that" she says and I shake my head as I run out of the house
Vanessa's POV
"So Julieta is in a coma and well since your friend is seventeen Julieta will be placed in a adoption center" A police officer says and my eyes widened
"No you can't do that! Come on my friend turns eighteen in like a month even less than a month! You can't do that to them!"
"Actually in the will their parents declared the sister to have custody of Julieta" The girl police officer says
"Then the sister has to come"
"For fucks sake!" I yell
"I'll call her" Daisy says and I nod as she leaves outside
"Will she make it?" I ask the doctor
"We're not sure"
Well what the hell are you doing! I need answers you shit head!
"Hey Vanessa" Daisy says motioning me to come over " Well um she's not answering"
"Did you try tracking her phone?" I ask
"She turned off her location"
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck we're screwed!"
"You try calling her you're much scarier than I am" she says and I glare at her but nod
"Come on Ev answer me you fucker this is important" I mumble
"Vanessa what do we do!" Daisy yells in panic
"If I'm being honest I don't know we'll stay here and keep calling her as well as taking updates on Julieta"
"What if she doesn't answer or show up?"
"Shhh don't stress me out more Daisy I don't know what to do" I say rubbing my face "This is a nightmare"
