Christen's POV

"Don't be nervous" I whisper to Evelyn as we arrive at the Baltimore Convention Center

"What if I don't get drafted by a team what if I go to the courage?" She asks and I shake my head

"None of that, I know you will get into a good team and I'm not just saying that because I'm your mother but because you are talented"

"Thanks mom" she says and I smile and kiss her forehead

We got inside and we sat down with the rest of the girls and their families.

"We'll begin shortly" An announcer says

"I wish Toby was here but then it would've been way too chaotic and also we don't want the world knowing" Evelyn whispers in my ear

"Right because Alex being here isn't chaotic either" Daisy says and we all look at Alex

"What? You guys decided on who to bring" Alex says and the girls look at me

"What? I thought it was better than Ash" I say

"We'll be starting in one minute"

"This is going to be chaotic" Daisy whispers as she ducks her head

"Tobin says your sister says she loves you" I whisper

"I miss them already"

"You'll get to see them after" I say and she smiles

"Welcome everyone to the 2020 NWSL Draft"

Evelyn's POV

"Portland Thorns you're now on the clock" Amanda Duffy says

"Remind me again how you guys convinced me to come in a jumpsuit? Clearly I look better in a suit" I say

"You don't look good in anything" Daisy says

"Oh once we're home I'm beating you up, but right now I can't do that" I mumble and smile as the camera comes around

"Rumor has it that Sophia will be the first pick" Alex whispers

"Probably I wouldn't doubt it" I whisper back and she pats my head

"You'll do great don't you worry about anything, oh and Ash said she's watching"

"Of course she is" I say chuckling

"All the girls are watching" Mom tells me

"All of them?!"

"Yes"

"No pressure" I whisper to myself

"Shh! Shh! The blonde lady is back" Daisy says

"With the first pick in the first round of the 2020 NWSL College Draft the Portland Thorns select Evelyn Rodriguez from the University of Utah"

Holy fuck.

I stand up and hug my mom, Alex then Daisy. I walked towards the stage as I had no speech prepared, but I'll wing it.

"Hello everyone wow this is incredible, umm well I want to thank Mark Parsons for believing in me and giving me this chance. Thank you to everyone here who's making this possible. I would like to thank my high school coach for believing in me and for not only helping me become a better player but also a better person. Thank you to my mom Christen, Alex, my two sisters and a big thank you to Tobin for waking me up at five in the morning so I can get my running done. I can not wait to play in Providence Park with everyone and begin this beautiful journey. This is such an honor and blessing. Thank you to everyone. I won't let you guys down"
