Evelyn's POV
"You can come in" The doctor says and I nod
"Come with me please?" I ask mom and Alex
"We'll be with you come on" Mom says and I nod
"I'll be outside if you need anything baba" Mal says and I nod as she pecks my lips
"Let's go" Alex says and we walk into the room.
"Julieta?" I ask
"Wh-who's th-there?" I hear her say as she's hiding under the covers
"My name is Evelyn" I say as I walk into the room
"Yo-you're my sister!" She yells as she sticks her head out from under the sheets
"I a- wait you know?" I ask
"Yes mommy and daddy told me about you they would even take me to your games! But where are they?" She asks as I walk towards her. Hazel eyes just like mom.
"Fuck" I mumble
"Woah Christen and Alex are in the same room as me!" She yells excitedly "Where's mommy and daddy?"
"I um well they aren't.. they aren't here anymore" I softly say. How does one explain this to a kid.
"What?" She asks
"It's complicated sweetie" Chris says
"Oh okay"
"You're going to live with me now how does that sound" I say and she smiles
"You mean I finally get to be with you!"
"You do and I finally get to be a sister" I whisper
"Mommy and daddy were going to tell you but mommy said daddy didn't have the pelotas to do it whatever that means" she says and I laugh
"So you would go to my games?" I ask and she nods "Do you watch soccer?"
"Daddy always watched it with me" she says as she grabs my hand "We watched you play against Australia"
"So you know who they are" I say pointing to Alex and Christen
"Yup" she says and looks at them
"And you aren't freaking out?" Chris says
"Mommy always said to never treat others differently for anything, we're all humans"
My mom? My mom said that? Funny.
"Hold old are you?" Alex asks
"Four" Julieta says
"Do you want to meet the team? Or do you just want to lay here?" I ask
"They're here?" She asks as her eyes light up
"They're outside" I say
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Please!"
"Okay I'll go get them" I say as I turn around
"Stay we'll go" Alex says and I nod
"So tell me what's your favorite color?"
"All of them"
"All of them?" I ask
"Mhmm all of them they're all pretty even black even if it is scary sometimes" she says
"I love you" I mumble as I kiss her forehead
"Here" she says patting the bed and gives me a smile
