Mal's POV

"Why didn't you tell me?" I ask as Evelyn comes into the apartment.

"I wanted to, but I couldn't but also I didn't want to. Please don't be mad." Evelyn sighs and I soften my face.

"I'm not mad, just answer me one question." I say as I rest my hand on her cheek.

"Anything, anything at all."

"Did you buy it for personal reasons?"

"If I'm being honest I did yes. I bought it for personal reasons."

"Your family?" I ask and she smiles weakly and nods.

"I couldn't let them separate my moms and their true home." She says and I smile.

"I know don't worry." I say.

"Sooo we're okay?" She asks and I laugh.

"We're okay." I say as I place a kiss on her lips.

"Nice." She says smiling.

"Do y-" I'm interrupted by Ev's phone ringing.

"Sorry it's my sister."

"It's okay answer her." I say and she nods as she answers the call.

"Hello? Yeah, why? What? Okay I'm on my way."

I furrow my eyebrows in confusion as I grow concerned.

"Is everything okay?" I ask.

"Daisy said mom is sick. I got to go, I'll be back." She says as she grabs her slides and hoodie.

"Can I go with you?"

"Yeah I don't see why not."

"Great! Let me just grab my sweater and we'll be on our way."

"Mal they literally live a couple doors down there's no rush."

Evelyn's POV

"Mom? MOM!" I yell out.

"She's in the room." Daisy says and I nod.

"Where's J?"

"Out getting some ice cream with Nessa."

I walk into the room and I see mom.

"Damn mom you look like shit."

"Wow isn't that very nice." Mom says and I shrug. "If I weren't so sick I'd yell at you."

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"It's just a mild cold."

"Of course it is." Ma says.

"Hey." I wave and smile at ma.

"Why on earth did you buy the Thorns?" She sighs crossing her arms.

"What?" I ask.

"Why did you buy the thorns?"

"I wanted to." I say shrugging and she laughs.

"Chris our daughter is super crazy." Ma says.

"That is correct." I say and she smiles.

"You didn't have to."

"I know, but I wanted to. Plus Mark was gonna run you over bad. I saved you."

"I don't doubt it." She says and I laugh.

Mom coughs and I turn to her.
