Seeing Yoongi again for the first time since the hospital made a ball in Jungkook's chest tighten as every part of him went into fight mode. He had prepared for this meeting. For meeting his pack alpha, he had talked to the hospital, to his doctor, to Taekwoon and Hakyeon, even to Seokjin.
But what he had prepared for was nothing compared to what it was actually like meeting the alpha again. Yoongi looked... healthier than when he was in the hospital, his mint green hair was gone, replaced by his normal hair colour, and he hadn't noticed that the rest of BTS had entered the pre-flight area.
He looked like Yoongi.
Like the man that taught Jungkook so many things over the years.
This man was the man that he was meant to love, that was meant to be his alpha, but Jungkook wasn't sure in that moment... if he really loved Yoongi. What happened during that rut, the treatment that Jungkook had been part of giving out.
Everybody was frozen, Jungkook reaching up to touch the choker he had gotten from Seokjin, to remind himself of staying grounded, of what he had promised the older beta. For a second, he thought that none of the members of BTS would speak up, that they would just stand there, none of them knowing how to return back to normal.
That wasn't it, but the person speaking up, reaching out for Yoongi, extending the olive branch, was the person who in Jungkook's opinion had the biggest reason not to do it. It was Namjoon who reached out, the person who had so many reasons why not to, stepping forward and finding his spot next to Yoongi on the waiting bench, "is that some of the lyrics for the next album?"
Jungkook's heart clenched, seeing Namjoon, his hyung, the person that Jungkook so many years ago had been willing to give up everything for. The person that Jungkook himself had hurt, that he had treated like nothing, like he was worthless, seeing that person back with them, sitting next to Yoongi, like he wants to be part of their pack, like he wants to be with them.
It should make Jungkook happy, but it didn't, it made him want to throw up.
Jungkook had been worried about it for a while, that Namjoon didn't seem to hold a grudge against Yoongi, against the rest of them. He seemed to have just forgiven the pack without even talking to them.
He wanted Namjoon with them, he really did, he wanted to love Namjoon, but he wasn't sure that he deserved to love Namjoon. He wasn't sure that Yoongi did either, and Namjoon forgave the older rapper just as easily as he had forgiven Jungkook.
It made him sick to his stomach.
As Jungkook had been lost in his thoughts, staring at the two men blindly, Namjoon's action had been enough to get them all to move. Taehyung the first one, finding his spot next to Yoongi easily leaning his head on the short man's shoulder, "can I see as well?"
Of course, Taehyung would be quick to join as well, he was the only member who never really seemed to have any issues with the pack, which did worry Jungkook a fair amount. The next to join was Jimin, a little hesitant, but still sitting down next to Namjoon intertwining their hands.
Seokjin joined them as well, Hoseok was the one left next to Jungkook hesitantly. He hadn't talked much to the other alpha since everything happened, the only thing that had happened was that Bang PD-nim had sat them all down one at a time, and with Hoseok's consent told them about his past.
Jungkook was hesitant looking at him, looking to his older hyung to guide him, cause he had so many conflicting feelings that he didn't know how to express. Hoseok looked a little overwhelmed as well, but after one deep breath, he smiled and said "let's join them," his hand found its way into Jungkook's giving it a light squish.
