..."Somebody try and understand this guy."...

The problem was, that your new roommate took more than half of the space in the room for three. That made it oddly challenging for you to stuff everything neatly back into your own wardrobe.
You still hadn't managed to arrange all that paraphernalia of hers, let alone yours.
The whole morning, you sorted out the garbage laying around, while Ymir snoozed and Eru slept, wearing one of these eye-covers for supposedly 'calmer sleep'.
She stated, that she got it from her dad, who's supposed to be rich and lives behind wall Rose, being the general of the Military Police.
After asking her, why she was in the Survey Corps then, instead of being with him, she didn't say anything.
You solely noticed her eyes twitching the slightest, indicating that you were bothering her, even though she had started the entire conversation.

You grunted, while pushing her hair-curling-thing into the lowest section.
Who the hell does even need such an object?
You sighed, a pearl of sweat drizzling down your scalp. The sun shone right into your face, not really helping you out
And who on earth has time to do friggin curls? Especially since we're training almost every day?
Another struggle added by simply having one more human in this room, due to the fact, that you were the only one cleaning in here now.

You racked your brain for half an hour, while glancing back at Eru from time to time, still not being able to suppress your growing misliking towards her.

After some time, with you still rolling from place to place with a burning head, Eru let out a large yawn. She slowly removed her eye-thingy and glanced to you.
"Hey hussy, could you be a little quieter? Some of us still try and get our beauty-sleep."

You frowned and grumpily continued, though after 45 minutes, hadn't accomplished much more.
That's why you let it be for now, your mood somehow being on the level of the basement storey.

In the corridor, you met Hange and Levi, so you joined them, as Hange explained something eagerly.
"... and I said 'you'll definitely need to visit a doctor for this.'
Oh hey, (Y/N)!", Hange stopped her recount and greeted you.

"Hey.", you returned with a glance at Levi.
He was silent and was still cold toward you.

Was this normal? Yes.
Yesterday he behaved weirdly, which left you perplexed, so you tried to not let it show.

Was this normal? Another yes, but not entirely.
You still hadn't understood what was up with him yet.

"Anyway, and I went on with asking what her son's favourite game was, which she answered with 'maybe chess'.", Hange continued.
"And that's how I thought of you two.", she ended contently.

"Huh?", you looked at her in question.
"How?"

"Well, you and Levi are like a chess board. One side is black, we know of course who of you two that is.", she gave Levi a tap with her elbow, causing him to grunt as response to her mockery.

"And there's white.", she proceeded with her explanation.
"The game's not fun, unless both sides play along. It's known, that none of them would give up without a fight and reluctance.
So you're constantly in this match, both of you being more than worthy opponents and none of you having the pride to let the other one win.
Imagine, if one side was missing though.
You'd feel lost, because there would be no way for the other one to move forward anymore.", she simply stated.

"There would be no game.
You would be sad.
So even though you're constantly fighting, the absence of the other upsets you and makes you feel, as if an empty void has taken its place.", Hange ended.
