..."Do something the instant."...

Hange raised her hand to her forehead in arousal and furrowed her brows resolutely.
"Got it."

She immediately started working on the biggest wound on your right leg, trying to stop the bleeding.
Levi in the meantime, stood expressionlessly on the side, eyeing everything what Hange did carefully.
She disinfected the areas around the scratches and wounds on your arms and legs, concentratedly scanning your state every now and then. To her bad surprise, the white cloth of the bandage drained in red way faster than it should.
Levi's glance darkened and Hange turned to him to give him a warm smile.

Levi's cold look met your face, which was covered in red lines and crossed traces of dark liquid trickling down. He observed your breath lowering and being a whiff of what it used to be just five hours ago.

Hange in the attempt to perk Levi up:
"Hey, look...", she pointed to the biggest wound, after changing the strip of red material again.
"It stopped.", her happy voice sounded and her eyes shone.

Levi rejected every offer of reassurance, as nothing but emotionlessness was visible on him.

And in reality, Hange's eyes hid a tiny piece of sadness and profound concern as well.
In her thoughts:
Please (Y/N), hold on.
I need you, partner. Who's gonna play with me and listen to me, after you're gone?

Hange grinned widely, giving Levi a thumbs up.
"Now we have to wait and hope for the best-"

Levi frowned.
"Hope for the best? Can't you do anything else?"

"No, I'm sorry, Levi. That's all I can do.", her face moved to you and sorrowed.

Levi's eyes blazed.
"That's all...", he brought out heavily, closing his yes and leaning against the wall behind him.
"Damn it.", he huffed, looking at your limp body.

Hange carefully:
"Well, I could give her something, but..."

Levi deeply:
"But what?"

"It's a little... untested... it might make her experience some unknown side-effects...", she explained hesitatingly.
"But it will calm her pulse and slow the blood-loss. She might have a chance of survival."

Levi:
"..."

Hange, continuing:
"The two of you traveled for a long time, all the blood she lost on the way is irreplaceable."
Levi sighed and thought deeply about it, not replying.
"What are we going to do, Levi?"

-

Hange went to the door and gave Levi a nod, before rushing down quickly.
After she left, Levi drew nearer to you and looked down, not parting his gaze from you. All he felt was pure and it was something too familiar. It was fear. Fear of loosing a close person.

And the emotion was always so particular, because it seemed to happen every time in the similar kind of way.
His half-closed eyes laid coldly on your body, which lost warmth more and more. His hands, which were still stained with dark red, moved to your paler becoming face.
He brushed a hair off it to go down and cup your cheek softly, letting his look soften as well.

"Idiot...", he whispered.

He hoped to make the right decision, but he never really knew.
Because no matter how sure he was in his own abilities, or in the ones of his comrades, there was never a full certainty or a security for the outcome.
There were his old comrades and the mounds of corpses piling up ever so fast, rushing to their deaths in front of his eyes. And it was always him, it was always only Levi, who somehow managed to survive. It had constantly been painful to live and watch and to be solely able to do exactly and solely that, even while the pieces of flesh belonging to your closest and dearest persons were torn into tinier shreds.
