"Do you have eyes on her?" Min Tae Gu asked.

"Yes. She's fine. Locked in her room. We're monitoring her 24/7 when we can," his contact assured.

"Good. I appreciate your help," Min Tae Gu said.

"Make sure all our gear is in place and there won't be any wrong switch. If you are hurt, these two women of ours might come after me."

"I'll be safe. Are you sure your wife is well enough for this?" Min Tae Gu asked, worried about the woman's condition.

"I can't stop her if I tried. Her heart has a soft spot for your Baek Jang-mi and she won't be able to rest well until we're sure you guys are fine."

"Understood. Thank you."

Ending the call, he listened to the wall connecting his room to hers for any sound. He had been running surveillance for the past days on the movements in that apartment. Predictably, there was no pattern.

Tracing her location was fairly easy. Min Tae Gu had made a note of the taxi number and was able to ask where Jang-mi was dropped off. He belatedly realized that she had kept the application tracking her phone on, and he confirmed the location through that. During the time that she disappeared, she cut all modes how he could find her so he knew this time was deliberate.

She was willing to be found.

Finding her floor was trickier without revealing his identity but regularly monitoring the building paid off and he determined that in a day.

Finally, it was setting up the microphones. He couldn't come into her room so he had to settle for devices that would amplify sound. He didn't need to monitor whether she would be faithful to him, but he wanted to make sure she was safe. One whimper in pain from her and he would break down those doors.

Apologising to her for what he was about to do, "I'm sorry, Darling," he whispered before proceeding to place the microphones strategically.

Executing this plan was impossible without help, which came in the form of an unexpected source.

"Mr. Min?"

"Detective."

"We need to talk." The detective handed Min Tae Gu a note. "We found this in my wife's wallet. Upon checking the CCTV cameras, we determined that it was from someone you know."

The note:

Threats to Tae Gu. Help me. Please.

"I'm sorry for lying. I just wanted to keep you safe." He was thankful that the microphones picked it up.

Min Tae Gu resisted the urge to make his presence known at this point because he didn't want to throw her off what she needed to do. For now, he was glad that she already found out. They both needed to execute their plans in parallel, close this mission out and move on once and for all.

The delegates for the convention had arrived in the city and based on her target's movements over the weekend, Baek Jang-mi could tell that sitting at a cafe in his line of sight would not work to get a conversation with him. She needed to interact with him in his work.

So, she watched him and walked up to read the poster about the program that was going to be held in the hotel.

"Are you attending this?"

Target acquired, she thought. Giving a shy smile, she said, "No. I'm interested in investing but... I don't work for a bank."

"Oh, that's too bad. I could help, if you wish?"
