Spot and Finch had been dreading this day since they started but they knew it was going to come anyways. The dreaded oral practices.

Their tutor/teacher sat them down across from each other and gave them a list of questions to ask the other. Some were easier and some were harder.

Spot started, "Conas atá tú?"
(How are you?)

"Táim go maith ach ní maith liom seo. Tusa?" Finch spoke, over dramatising the last part of his answer.
(I'm good but I don't like this. And you?)

"Tá ocras an domhain orm." Spot said, grabbing his stomach and pretending like he was dying of starvation.
(I'm an very hungry (the literal translation is the hunger of the world is upon me but it just means very))

"Cén dath is fearr leat?" Finch asked, following up with one of the easiest questions he could find on the sheet.
(What is your favourite colour?)

"Dearg, tú féin?" Finch rolled his eyes at Spot's answer, having been able to guess it himself based on the sole fact that that's all he ever really wore.
(Red. And your's?)

"Corcra. Cén sort tí atá agat?" Finch knew this might be a sensitive topic but he had to read what he was told to read.
(Purple. What sort of house do you have?)

"Tá arasán agam. Cén seomra is fearr leat i do theach?" Finch senses that he didn't want to talk much about his home life so he planned to skip those questions.
(I have an apartment. Which room is your favourite in your house?)

"Is é mo sheomra leapa an seomra is fearr liom mar tá sé an-chompordach angus tá mo leaba ansin." The two boys laughed at Finch's enthusiasm when it came to his love of sleeping and weren't surprised in the slightest that he mentioned that.
(My bedroom is my favourite room because it is very comfortable and my bed is there.)

Eventually after asking questions back and forth like this for a while they finally finished.  They were thankful it was over but they both secretly enjoyed getting to know each other considering they hadn't properly talked much before.

They both took turns laughing at the others terrible pronunciation of a word. It was mostly Finch who had trouble with pronunciation because he was relatively new to the language. But also the fact that Spot spoke Munster Irish and Finch spoke Connacht Irish just made things that bit more confusing.
