I smiled as I stood making dinner, wiping my hands from where I just washed them after cutting up the chicken and wiping them on the black and white hand towel when I heard a knock at the door.

"Darling" I called

"I'm going" he says forcing himself up from his chair and away from his book sitting his now closed book on the table walking past, giving my head a kiss and my butt and pinch

"Benny!" I laughed a little annoyed at him, he went to the door opening it up having to pull hard as the door was sticking lately

"Hey Beth, come on in" he smiled as he gave her a hug and let her in

"Good afternoon Miss Harmon" I smiled as I worked

"Hi hun" she smiled coming over to give me a hug

"Whoa! Hi Beth. Careful I've got a knife!" I told her as I was cutting potatoes

"Yeah so does Benny but at least yours is useful"

"It's useful" he argued

"Yeah? For protection last thing that hurt you benny was an papercut"

"I like to be prepared"

"Will you two cut it out? To what do we owe the pleasure beth?"

"I need advice"

"What kinda?" Benny asks as he got sat down with his book again

"Not from you"

"Why doesn't anyone want my advice?" He complained

"Because you have a terrible track record for life decisions" I said

"...ow" he complained "why is everyone being evil to me today?"

"I'm your wife I'm allowed" I giggled "but what is it beth?"

"It's... about harry?"

"What about harry?"

"We've been talking and, he keeps bringing this up"

"bringing up what beth?"

"You know. Settling down together"

"So?"

"So... I don't know if I want to or not with harry. What do you think?"

"Well I don't know your mind beth"

"I just I don't know if I love him. Or if I wanna Settle down with him for the rest of my life?"

"Beth. Let me tell you something" I said turning to lean beside her on the counter "do you honestly think when I married Benny I loved him?"

"Hey!" Benny argued but just as he did a noise erupted from our bedroom so I glared at him "I'm going" he sighed wandering off

"Beth. Love is a complicated thing and in this day and age it's even more complicated. Love isn't something that just happens, you have to build It you have to work on it." I explained "when I first met Benny you really thought it was some kinda disney moment where light shines in and birds tweet, and everything is happy because you've found your one true love? God no when I first met Benny I hated his guts. You think a first kiss is like the story books? Where your heart flutters and your stomach fills with butterflies. The first time I kissed Benny I had a pizza and three glasses of wine and I threw up the next morning." I explained "love isn't something that just happened, true love is bullshit, love isn't something that magically appears with someone, love isn't something you can just have. Love doesn't exist. Between anybody because it's not something that comes pre packaged with a relationship."
"Doesn't it?"

"It does, But it's like boxed furtinite you have to slowly build it together. Sometimes you give up and never finish it, sometimes you fight with each other and end up breaking a bit you really need, you can end up walking out and finishing it with someone else. Sometimes your missing pieces all together, or you have extra ones for no reason, But sometimes when you get the right time and the right people you can make something truly beautiful" I explain

"So what's the point of settling down?"

"Because sometimes you want the one thing that getting married supplies you with"

"Someone to do the laundry?"

"That is helpful. But more important than that. Security." I smiled "Besides, It's nineteen sixty nine you can always get divorced" I laughed "Or it's harry. Just become his wife and slowly belittle him until he had no spirit"

"Is that what you did to benny?"
"Hey!" Benny complained as he came out the bedroom

"I'm trying, he's a resistant bugger" I smirked

"Or you're bad at belittling me?"

"Or he's too stupid to understand when I'm doing it"

"I think I need to talk it out with him"

"I think that's best Beth." I nodded just as a screaming started so I glared at benny and he sighed rolling his eyes and going back to the bedroom

"Do you love benny?"

"Course I do" I smiled watching as he walked into the bedroom this time leaving open the door "I hated his guts when I first met him, but you Seattle, you grow as people, you maybe mature a little, things change and you slowly work at it until... yeah. You love them. Even if there are times you wanna shove a chess piece up there arse"

"Sounds like true love"

"As true a love as I have found beth" I smiled "well... almost"

"What do you mean?"

"Beth, I'm sure you will find that thing that makes you feel loved, But to me. There is only one true form of love and it can only come from one person in the whole world" I smiled watching as benny passed around our bedroom bouncing our daughter on his shoulder a little "Bring my love" I giggled he sighed and brought our little girl to me handing her over

"You try and get her to seattle, she won't stop her squirming" he complained

"Because she wants her mummy" I smiled, giving my little girl a kiss and a cuddle. "This is the truest love that exists in this world, unconditional, perfect. I brought her into this world and I will always love her more then anything in this world"

"Hey!" Benny complained "I love her too. I love both of my girls" He smiled giving me and Alice a cuddle

"I know you do" I smiled giving him a kiss

"Thank's y/n. I think I'm gonna use your bathroom" she smiled going to use our bathroom

"What do you mean you had to build a love for me?" He asks

".... Nothing benny darling" I laughed

"I loved you when I met you?"

"You did?"

"Course I did. You didn't?"

"I.... I had hopes" I smiled
