I get ready for the day then I go to the cafe. When I walk in the diner, I stand at the threshold and take a quick look around. I see my Mom at the counter and Rylin standing on the other side of the counter. Yes, I did say Rylin, Kain's Mom. She's been coming around almost everyday since that party when Ayla had to those cakes to their house.

Rylin and my Mom seem to get along pretty well. Personally, I think it's a little weird that my Mom and Kain's Mom are friends and that they both have a kid by the same guy. But if my Mom is happy than I am too.

I walk up to the counter and sit down on the stool. Rylin turns her head and smiles brightly at me. "Hey, Scott." She greets me and I smile politely back.

"Hey." Is all I say.

Rylin finishes whatever she was saying to my Mom then she leaves. I check back over my right shoulder to see if she's out of hearing range then I look back at Mom.

"What's up?" Mom says then picks up a glass cup and wipes it dry with a cloth.

"Nothing much. I still find it kinda weird that you and Rylin are friends." I say and smirk.

Mom lowers the cup and looks at me funny. "Oh. She was just telling me about the fiasco they had at their house for Thanksgiving." Mom says then puts down the cup and picks up a new one, drying that one to.

I nod my head and let out a small chuckle. "Yeah, I heard about that. Ayla already told me all about it. I just felt bad that Nate had to sit through that whole thing." I say then look up at Mom. "Doesn't it make you grateful that it's always just me and you for Thanksgiving and most Holidays?"

Mom smiles and nods. "Yeah." She puts the cup down on the counter. "So are you guys still leaving at 3:30?"

"Yeah." I simply say.

Mom leans on the counter. "Okay, listen to me. I bought snacks and fruit for you for the road. Before you leave to get on the bus, pack what you want and put it in a bag." Mom says with authority.

I nod then stand up. "Yeah, alright. Um, I'll either see you later or when I get back." I say then turn and walk towards the door but stop when I hear Mom's voice. "Where are you going?" I spin around and put my hands in my pockets. "To Hazyl's..." I tell Mom and smile.

I never told Mom about Hazyl being my girlfriend, she just knows that we've been hanging out. I haven't formally introduced them to each other yet but maybe soon.

Mom has a smug smirk on her face, I wave to her then turn the way I was headed and continue walking.

I knock on Hazyl's front door and wait for her to answer. A few seconds later, I hear the door unlock and she answers the door. Hazyl immediately jumps to me, wraps her arms around my neck, stands on her tip-toes and smashes our lips together. I kiss her back then I move us inside the house so we're not standing in the cold.
