The Hunter's Nightmare was hell on earth, everything about the distorted land was wrong, from its smell all the way to its inhabitants.

Y/N counted his lucky stars that he was never trapped here, at least not unwillingly.

Bloodthirsty Hunters stalked the streets, so far gone that Y/N couldn't even recognize their horribly disfigured bodies.

One thing he did notice however was their choice of apparel. Their hats, midnight black garbs, and crimson red capes were the same as his. They were Black Church Hunters gone mad.

Unlike Y/N was their favored weaponry. It was all intents and purposes, savage.

Their rifles and blunderbusses were loaded with bone shattering slugs, or marble sized pellets. All silver and enhanced with some of the most potent blood a Hunter could have.

Y/N's weaponry was elegant and required a focused mind to aim and cut. It was chosen not just for the pure lethality of a silver slug or Rakuyo, but for the sake of Y/N's sanity.

The mad Hunters swung their Beast Cutters with reckless abandon, more than often putting weight and power into their swings than thought and skill.

Their firearms were deadly, sure. But the outcome was all the same, splatters of flesh and bone everywhere.

Rather than focusing on tearing his enemies to shreds, Y/N gave into the art of the weapon itself.

So as he faced his once brothers and sisters in arms, and as he was coated in their slimy blood, he was sure to make it quick and painless.

Eventually, as he and Valtr cautiously strolled through the hellish plane, they stopped before something truly disturbing.

"Is that...?" Valtr stopped in his heavy strides. His one eye was narrowed beneath his helmet in both curiosity and disgust.

Y/N approached a literal river of blood, the flow was fresh and uncirculated, indicating its source was near and plentiful.

"Blood." Y/N grunted, kneeling beside the river to look up stream. "Something is close... I can feel it."

His golden eyes were in a deep glare. He couldn't believe it himself, after tearing down Laurence and his church there was still something far more menacing out there.

"What do you reckon it is?" Valtr asked, leaning on his Saw handle.

"It feels..." Y/N hummed with a shake of his head. "Familiar. Like a friend."

"A friendly beast." Valtr chuckled, clearly amused. "You don't suppose it'll have tea ready for us?"

"Only one way to find out..."

The two made their way up stream, only to find bodies, drained from their blood but were still very much alive.

They writhed and shifted in pain with tired groans. Y/N knew they had been there for a very long time.

After a long trek of mad Hunters, gorging beasts, and hulking members of the Healing Church, the duo stood before the source of the blood river.

The liquid was knee deep, a very dangerous combination for the two as it slowed their movement greatly.

"What abomination would do this?" Valtr asked, disgusted.

Looking to his friend in the presence of silence, Valtr saw his golden eyes fade and show sadness.
