"First, I'd like to apologize."

Y/N was so lost in the beautiful scenery before him he almost didn't notice the unknown man speaking.

"Solus' semblance is usually harmless, but I-" He laid a hand over the ornate metal plate on his chest. "-insisted that we show you everything. You would have felt a certain... discomfort."

Discomfort. Sure...

Y/N gave a light scoff laced with a chuckle and a shake of his head; it was Ozpin.

"With that out of the way, we can continue. As you can see, we are in the early stages of what we thought to name Beacon."

Y/N stared at the castle to notice it did indeed resemble Beacon's architecture, from the high tower to its arching pillars. The only thing that was missing was its large port.

"The king abdicated his throne to found the Hunter Academies... I'm sure you've heard the stories of him, the warrior king."

Just about everyone knew of the terror he struck into the heart of his enemies. He was the brunt of the Vacuo campaign.

"Of course, in case you haven't..."

The castle was gone, and the long grass field was replaced with a large room supported with tall stone pillars.

Y/N's dress shoes were muffled as he stepped on a red carpet leading to a single throne.

"I did my absolute best to avoid violence."

Standing by Y/N's side came a voice, deep and bellowing; the presence of the rumble in his throat alone demanded a bend to the knee.

"Alas, Anima and Solitas came for our land, our resources."

Now holding the cane was the once king of Vale. He was at least half a head shorter than Y/N, but they nearly resembled each other, from their large builds to numerous scars.

The king had the same brown eyes coupled with shoulder-length brown hair resting under his golden crown. His apparel was both savage and elegant, with elaborate carvings into gray armor; its metal was covered by thick leather and a faded white pelt around his shoulders.

He stared at the empty throne with a thoughtful expression while speaking.

"Soon enough, they united, hoping to overthrow the Vacuoan mines and cripple our people into submission."

Y/N felt a hot wind touch his face with a slight pinch of grains of sand. He now stared out into the city of Vacuo, where a small army was assembled.

"If not for the Rangers, we would have fallen. But, instead, our sudden alliance allowed us to push back their forces and drive them back to their respective territories."

Behind those brown eyes were slivers of guilt, an emotion that he voiced.

"I did what anyone else would do. If I hadn't, they would continue to enslave and rule with tyranny... I only wish there could have been another way."

The empty throne room darkened. Once illuminated with the sun, its window panes were now the shattered moon, lighting a path of a bloody war.

On one end of the darkened desert were the invaders, Anima and Solitas, hoping to claim resources and possibly annex the rich lands.

On the other was Vacuo, whose army, although small, was as vicious as the deserts that resided in. Nevertheless, they fell under one collective banner of fighters to retain peace and order. The Rangers.

"They were outnumbered ten to one." The king stared fondly at the Rangers to crack a smile and deep chuckle. "It was almost an even fight..."

The Rangers split in two; their war chants were silenced as the king emerged from behind their ranks. And with him was the armies of Vale, assembled for one last defensive push, an act written in history as the Vacuo campaign.
