Rhodes took a seat within the local inn, the bed wasn't quite up to his standards, but it was enough.

He clicked open his scroll, tapped it a few times and held it to his ear. There was a slight buzz as the other line rang for a moment, then an answer.

"Rhodes." Ozpin greeted with a hum, catching the attention of Glynda nearby.

"I followed him just as you asked." The man replied, holding his head in his hands. "He's on edge, thought I was one of them."

Ozpin crossed eyes with Glynda before speaking, Rhodes could now be heard by both. "And the matter in Vale?"

Rhodes considered himself a very perspective person. His ears were always halfway to the ground and his eyes remained peeled.

So when whispers traveled down wind of an unknown man staying in Atlas Academy, a man supposedly very close to the Headmaster, he had to check it out.

The rumors told of a very large individual covered in black. Most times he passed other students on the way to class, others say he was a new recruit, a high ranking Specialist.

Rhodes discovered just who he was, a young man turned hardened killer. Just from his eyes alone Rhodes knew that. His sneaking suspicion was confirmed, he had found Y/N.

An old memory, a teammate. He lacked the old attire and armor he knew him for, instead opting for something more business like and stylish.

The days passed, until one morning he saw him. Adorned in enough gear to wage a small war and walking with a purpose. His strides were long and fast with his shoulders squared.

Rhodes followed him, through the kingdom to a bullhead and straight over to Vale's upper class district. He was sure to keep his distance as he marched through the crowded streets.

He made a short stop through a small market place, a tech shop to be specific.

He stood to a lone cashier. "Excuse me."

"Hey, what's up?" The employee immediately plastered on a bright grin.

"I found a scroll, you wouldn't happen to know how to track it's owner down, would you?"

"It's... possible, yeah." The techie held the scroll in their hand. "But we usually just report these to the police."

Rhodes kept his back to a corner, he couldn't see what was happening, but he heard it. There was a sudden change in Y/N's voice that he had never heard before, it was cold and calculating.

"What do you think the police will do when they get their hands on this?" Y/N held up the scroll. "Drop it on by with a little note and muffins?"

He bent over with his elbows rested on the counter top, staring directly into the cashier's soul. "Take a look inside, then tell me how you feel."

The employee gulped with a hesitant nod. They slowly took the little device and hooked it into a special piece of equipment.

Their eyes shrunk in a sudden fear when numbers, money and names appeared on their screen. There was enough evidence to point toward dozens upon dozens of assassinations.

"Who can you really trust?" Y/N asked near a whisper, speaking through all the other voices surrounding them. "The police? A good samaritan? Or me...?"

"You're-" They cleared their throat. "Y-you're not one of them?"

"No." Y/N replied. "I'm just a person looking to get rid of this festering... vermin."

He reached into his pocket and placed a small clump of lien bills on the counter. "You'll be doing everyone a favor..."
