"Hmm, let's think . . ." Harry said in a mock thoughtful voice, "maybe Lord Voldemort?" Ron gasped; Lavender Brown uttered a little scream; Neville slipped sideways off his stool. Professor Umbridge, however, did not flinch. She was staring at Harry with a grimly satisfied expression on her face. "Ten points from Gryffindor, Mr. Potter.
The classroom was silent and still. Everyone was staring at either Umbridge or Harry suddenly Mira raised her hand and asked sweetly "Professor Umbridge I want to ask something" Umbridge looked at her then said, "first, let me make a few things quite plain."
Professor Umbridge stood up and leaned toward them, her stubby fingered hands splayed on her desk. "You have been told that a certain Dark wizard has returned from the dead -"
"He wasn't dead," Harry said angrily, "but yeah, he's returned" Umbridge was about to say something but Mira said first "Professor Umbridge, we are almost about to be killed by him"
"Just to make yourself famous don't spread rumors that may be hurt or scared anyone Ms Vain and you too Mr Potter," Professor Umbridge said in one breath without looking at them
"I thought you already saw Voldemort," Mira said in a sweet tone, everyone staring at her, Professor Umbridge also turned and looked at her with wide eyes anger burning in it "after he returned"
"Mira don't" Draco whispered who seated next to her.
"So, according to you, Cedric Diggory, Fler Declare, or I attacked Mira and cast the imperious curse on Krum, Mira was almost about to die there," Harry asked, his voice shaking remembering that event that pain he went through, look on Mira's face when she was attacked by peter Pettigrew that night in the graveyard, and when crouch tried to kill them
There was a collective intake of breath from the class, for none of them, apart from Ron and Hermione, had ever heard Harry talk about what had happened on the night after Mira went into the coma. They stared avidly from Harry to Professor Umbridge, who had raised her eyes and was staring at him without a trace of a fake smile on her face-
"This is a lie all your story nothing just a lie," she said coldly
"Voldemort returned that night, and you know it," Mira said calmly, Draco again whispered to her his voice sound angry "Mira just shut up... please"
Professor Umbridge's face was quite blank. then she said in her sweetest tone "you have no manners, Ms. Vain" then she turned and looked to Harry "you also Mr. Potter, you both need to learn some manners"
Professor Umbridge pulled two small rolls of pink parchment out of her handbag, stretched them out on the desk, dipped her quill into a bottle of ink, and started scribbling, hunched over so that no one could see what she was writing. Nobody spoke. After a minute or so she rolled up the parchment and tapped it with her wand; it sealed itself seamlessly so that they could not open it. "Take this to your head of your houses," said Professor Umbridge and handed parchment one to both of them,
Mira took the note and exit the class she saw Draco's face clearly showing his displeasure about the whole situation, Mira exited class Harry also took the note and slammed the door behind him, in the corridor they both looked at each other Harry was red with anger,
"I will see you in the detention," Mira said with a smile like she got an invitation to the feast, they went their different way, Mira went to the dungeon, professor Snape was in the class she looked at the closed classroom door for a second then taking a deep breath and steeling her nerves before finally pushing the door open. Everyone in the class turned to stare at her, and then her gaze finally met Cedric's in the corner 'this is bad' she told herself, looking away from him. He looked at her with a mix of curiosity and concern, but Mira forced herself to focus and walked up to Professor Snape's desk. "I've been sent to see you by Professor Umbridge," Mira said, her voice trembling slightly. "Come here," Professor Snape said in his usual frigid tone. Mira nervously obeyed, she didn't understand what changed between the walk to dark art to potion class that made her behavior like that she was confident before but now her feet feeling like lead weights as she slowly walked towards him. Professor Snape glanced around the class and told them to concentrate, before standing up, walking to the door and motioning for Mira to follow him into his inner office. Once inside, Mira handed Snape the letter from Professor Umbridge. He opened the letter, scanning the contents quickly before setting it down on the desk. He then motioned for Mira to take a seat and looked at her with an unreadable expression. "You know it's not good to get detention, especially from her," Snape said gravely. Mira could feel her cheeks pitch warm, and she looked down at her lap. he took the in chair next to her and sat down , She looked up and met Snape's gaze reluctantly. "I know," she murmured. Professor Snape rolled his eyes before continuing. "You know she's reporting everything to the Ministry" Mira sighed. "Yes. And to Voldemort," she replied, snatching up Snape's gaze and said, "Not him. I'm just talking about the Ministry." Before she could think of a response, Professor Snape continued as He leaned back in his chair and looked at her with a stern expression "She wrote a lot about your misbehavior."
Mira nodded, and Professor Snape sighed heavily. "Harry also got detention, did he?" Mira nodded, now looking up at Professor Snape in confusion. The corners of his lips quirked up into a smirk as he said, "I'm sure he did. He's had no manners since the start of school." Mira couldn't help but feel a little amused, and it eased her tension. "Umbridge also said same thing about me," she added quietly. Professor Snape's expression shifted into one of seriousness. He leaned in closer to her and said in a low voice, "Mira, listen here. You must use your common sense. Avoid her as much as you can. The Ministry's people are not to be trusted. Do you understand?" Mira nodded, feeling her heart beat faster. She had a feeling Professor Snape was doing her a favor and warning her not to get caught up in trouble. With a deep breath, she replied, "Yes, Professor. I understand."
"Good. Now, I must ask that you be extra careful. You are putting everyone in danger with your recklessness. Think before you act and always remember - use your common sense." With that, his face softened slightly, and he nodded for her to leave. Mira thanked him the bell rungged in the background indicating that class is over "wait for bit here" he told her and left the room, she looked around the office, shelf a lot of shelf filled with different types of sizes, shapes and colours and the parchments all around the place on different desks and some in the shelf. She slides her hand through some bottles when the door opened and professor Snape came back. "Here she's given you detention every evening this week, starting tomorrow, You will go to her room at five o'clock tomorrow for the first one," Snape told her as he put the student potion samples in the Columns.
"She didn't say anything in the court to prove us wrong," Mira said standing up from the chair
"But she said a lot in Potter's trial" Snape pointed out to her "remember if you didn't offend her, then she also not gonna disturb you"
He looked at her "Now you can leave"
Mira exited the classroom with a smile on her face, but it quickly faded when she noticed Cedric and Draco standing outside leaning on the wall talking in a low voice, both of them waiting for her.
"Hey,' she shouted at them. They both looked at her, their faces unreadable.
At that moment, a wave of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw fourth-year students rushed there to join their potion class. Mira, Cedric, and Draco stood silently against the wall, watching the passing crowd. Once the corridor became empty, Draco hovered closer to her, his grey eyes pinning her in place.
"Arguing with her is really important to you," he spoke in a low voice. Mira felt the anger radiating from him, and stared at the floor.
"Can't you just ignore her?" Draco continued, taking one step closer to her. There was a strained pause before he added, "Are you really that big of a dummy who never learns how to-,"
"Draco,' Cedric stepped in, cutting him off before he finished the sentence. Draco took one step back from her and sighed. He looked into her eyes as he said, "Just don't do that again, alright?"
"Ok," she said, nodding her head. Mira forced a smile, determined to lighten up the mood. "Hey, don't worry. We don't have any classes now. Let's hang out together," she exclaimed excitedly as she looped her arms through Cedric's and Draco's.
Draco ran a hand through his hair, seemingly slightly calmer. "What did that parchment say?" he asked.
Mira shook her head and muttered, "nothing special, I just received one week detention."
"Detention?" Cedric said with raised eyebrow, "What did you do? And why are you so happy about it?"
"I did nothing," Mira said with slightly frustrated expression, "It's all professor's fault."
The three of them headed out in a more somber mood, but still enjoying each other's company, as Cedric and Draco asked her about the detention and the professor that gave it to her. Mira, feeling more relaxed, began to narrate her story in a more lighthearted tone, making her friends burst into laughter time and again. As the trio crossed the hallways, hidden paths and less-traversed staircases,
