Astéria calmed down and we continued eating. I talked about Orange for the whole meal but Astéria didn't seem to mind. I couldn't have Astéria be mad at Orange about what happened so I had to convince her how amazing a person she was. Or at least a person not worth killing. I told her about how we met and what we did together. I didn't realize how much I liked to talk about Orange until that moment.

"She cooks for me a lot. It all started when I was younger and pouted because we had been served panetone. I hated that cake but didn't want to hurt the chef so I didn't say anything and forced myself to eat a bit. But this destroyed my mood and I didn't talk for the rest of the night."

I laughed:

"I know it's very childish but food is very important to me. I didn't complain at all but Orange always knows when I feel bad. She was the only one who saw that something was wrong. The same night she came to my room with a plate of cookies. I don't know how she guessed exactly what I wanted. It's as if she has a superpower. Cookies are my favorite by far and she has made cookies for me every week since then."

I smiled in a really good mood.

"She always knows what I want or what I need. She is truly the best. She knows my tastes so well. She knows me better than anyone."

Astéria who had been listening to me in silence suddenly felt agitated and talked for the first time in twenty minutes:

"What are your tastes? I would love to know them too."

I tilted my head. It felt as if Astéria was being jealous but I must have been dreaming.

"I don't know right now. I really like red cabbage as you can see. And cookies.

-And?"

Astéria was really insistent and I had to tell her about my favorite dishes one after the other. I didn't like to talk about myself as much as I liked talking about Orange and I kind of felt interrogated. But fortunately we didn't have a lot of time left and went to class. After that, I immediately went to meet up with Orange and Azore. As soon as I arrived Orange asked me about the meal:

"It was nice. She gave me her cabbages and we talked about you a lot."

Orange blushed and I thought she was adorable. I loved teasing her and continued:

"I told her all about how much I love and adore you. I told her how cute you were and how well you know me. I even told her about the panetone incident. I haven't even hated that cake that much since then."

Orange couldn't help turning redder and redder and she tried desperately hiding behind her hair. Seeing her all shy made me laugh:

"We talked about you for the whole meal. It was really fun."

Orange tried to calm down but still avoided her eyes:

"That good."

I started laughing and hugged her close:

"You are so cute. Look at her face getting all red. You are adorable."

I felt Orange shake in my arms but she still curled up against me. I started rubbing her head:

"I get it, I'll stop."

While rubbing her head I realized how tall she really was. Orange was always curling up against me and would always lower her head to hug me and hide in my shoulder but she was in fact quite tall. Really tall even. Maybe the same height as Astéria. No, she was a bit smaller. She was much smaller. I didn't understand why I felt like the moment when Astéria hugged me.

"We ate with some girls from the third class."

I had completely forgotten about Azore and turned to her Orange still in my arms:

"Oh, with whom?

-Echo, Mora, Urchin and Saber."

The three first names were familiar. They were girls I already saw during the sports tournament or between classes. I never talked to them but they seemed nice. But the last name didn't ring a bell at all:

"Saber? Do I know her?

-She is a new student who arrived a few days ago. She is nice and she seemed really grateful that we told her about the school."

I slowly nodded:

"It must be hard being a new student. We could invite her to tea sometime. We could help her with classes if she needs it."

Azore nodded too while Orange was still completely red and silent:

"That's a good idea. I could tell her about it tomorrow at noon. I guess that you are going to eat with Astéria again.

-I don't know yet. We didn't talk about it.

-Who is she eating with when not with you?"

I froze. I had no idea. Astéria didn't like anyone at school and people didn't like her either. If I didn't eat with her, would she eat alone? I knew she was the big villain and I knew I shouldn't feel bad for her but the thing was, I did. I felt terrible at the idea of leaving her alone.

"I'll see."

Orange did ask me about it at home. I was reading in our room when Orange came in with a plate of chocolate cookies. I immediately jumped up with a huge smile. Orange smiled too, seeing me all happy. She blew on a cookie before handing it to me. I really felt comfortable being taken care of by Orange. I usually hated it but being with her, I realized how good it could feel. I even wanted Orange to feed me and she seemed very happy to do so. As I was eating, Orange asked:

"Do you feel pressured or uncomfortable?"

I tiled my head:

"No, I really don't. I don't like other people taking care of me but with you it's very cozy and nice. It's as if it was completely normal."

Orange blushed but shook her head.

"Not that.

-Oh, do you mean Astéria?

-Yes.

-No, it's fine. She is really nice to me."

I signed:

"Would you be mad if I ate with her again?

-If that's what you want, no.

-But do you want me to eat with her?

-I want you to do what you want.

-That's not what I asked."

Why was I getting irritated? Didn't Orange care at all about the people I met?

"Why do you never get mad at me?

-I can't.

-You know that getting mad at someone isn't necessarily bad. You can get mad if I do something wrong. Our relationship will still stay the same.

-I am never mad."

I frowned:

"What about the time when I went out to watch the stars?

-That's different.

-How so?

-You didn't wear a coat."

I laughed:

"Do you only get mad when I get hurt?

-Yes."

I shook my head with a smile:

"You are really something."

Orange suddenly grabbed my chin and forced me to look at her:

"I would never be mad at you."

I blinked a few times. There was something weird in her eyes.
