The sun was setting as the cheerleaders were finishing up on their training. George always hated Wednesdays because it meant that they had to share the field with the football team. He could hear the jogs shouting to each other and it only made his irritations towards them grow. Luckily, he could focus on the cheerlead routine instead.
“Well done, girls,” Karl complimented as three of his teammates successfully executed a complicated flip. The captain clapped in his hands as he joined George’s side to form a circle. “Let’s finish it up for today.”
George felt exhaustion fill his limbs as he walked up to his water bottle to drink as Karl gave a short speech about the football team’s match next week. His relaxed feeling, however, evaporated as he saw a few of the football players walk up to them. Karl instantly hugged his boyfriend Sapnap’s side but George didn’t share the same excitement.
“We’re throwing a party tomorrow at my house,” Sapnap announced, looking at the cheerleading team, “and you girls and guys are invited.” The raven-haired boy’s gaze ended on George, an almost challenging expression in it. George just scuffed to himself and grabbed his phone from his bag, scrolling on it to ignore the scene in front of him.
In the background, George could hear a few girls cheering, and when he looked up they were jumping up and down. He, on the other hand, tasted disgust on the back of his tongue. Then, he met Dream’s green eyes, and to his horror, saw the quarterback approach him.
“You sure you don’t want to join?” Dream asked with a smirk, stepping even closer to George so he was towering over him. George hated their height difference, it gave the other an unwanted advantage.
Nevertheless, George pocketed his phone, crossed his arms, and looked confidently up as he answered, “You already know my answer.”
“Oh c’mon now,” Dream said in a teasing tone, “you can’t blame me for trying.”
George rolled his eyes at the other’s response and scuffed, “Still delusional.” The blond stared at George for a few long moments and the smaller boy hated it.
“Why are you always so angry at me?” Dream asked, lifting the other’s chin further up with his index finger, because he knew how much it annoyed George.
The smaller boy swatted the hand away, frowning his brows angrily. “Because you football players are all self-centered, cocky pricks who-”
“Just give them a chance, George,” Karl interrupted, sounding like he had enough of their bickering. “A party is a party, and you’re part of the cheerleading team after all.”
George pleaded with his eyes to his friend but the other didn’t give in, waiting for his answer. “Fine,” he responded between gritted teeth. Just this once. When he looked over at Dream again, the blond had a satisfied smirk on his face which George wanted to slap off him. Instead, he simply picked up his belongings and walked towards the changing room in desperate need for a hot shower.

Right when George and the rest of the cheerleaders entered Sapnap’s house the next day, the music overwhelmed them. The thick air made George take off his jacket immediately, hanging it on the overcrowded coat rack. The group he was with did not stay together for long and a few seconds later, George found himself solely with Karl. The brown-haired boy dragged him by the arm into the living room, which appeared to be fully filled with students. Does no one have classes on Friday or something? he wondered as he looked around. Eventually, George figured out where they were heading, spotting Sapnap talking with some people.
“Sap!” Karl shouted over the music to get his boyfriend’s attention. The boy turned around quickly, smiling widely and giving Karl, in George’s opinion, a too long of a kiss before introducing them to the two guys he was chatting with. Even though George had been in this school for years, he had never seen them before.
