~The Beginning of Life~

~ Chapter 89 ~

That's when I wake up. Judging by the number other people that are awake, it's around 7 am...

I sit up and subconsciously glance at Walton's empty bed. He used to wake up and sit there for a while... doing nothing but fiddling with a corner of his blanket, which is now folded up.

I force myself to get out into the sunlight and think about the dream. I don't want to but... it is definitely important. I suddenly get an idea-

Dreams. Dreams can be very helpful...

And with the quest coming up...

I run to the Hypnos cabin and barge in.

I remember from the books that it had a very tiring vibe. You'd feel like curling up and falling asleep. Well I'm too anxious for that. But that's what I have to do. I know I just woke up but I have this feeling that if I try, I will get help.

Passing the tree dripping Lethe, I sit in a far corner and lean against the wall. It's dark and cool here (well it is everywhere) but the walls around me make me feel less exposed. If anything wants to kill me, I can see it coming from here. Until I'm asleep. That takes me ten minutes, a big contrast from the usual 3 hours.

Demigod dreams are like lucid dreams. I can tell I'm dreaming right now- Oh look I'm falling.

Darkness. Darkness. Darkness.

Snow.

I sit up and find myself in another white expanse... I'm in some snowy place. Okay, so I think this is where we have to begin our quest. Everything suddenly fades and I'm in a cave where I see a man... a God? He had pale skin and dark hair- he could be something like Hades but his golden eyes hold a very mischievous glint. Behind him are many supplies of what look similar to the ones you'd find in the Hermes prank stash...

I'm then falling down a volcano- but it seems like an old and dormant one. I'm then in another underground where-

Hecate? Well someone is doing magic...

Then I see a dark chasm. After that, it's all flashes of a big door, a cage, an all-black giant, and Hephaestus. Nonsensical things.

A scream interrupts my dream and I snap back to harsh reality.

Running out of the cabin, I see a few campers gathered near the forest, trying to console and freaked out Annabeth- and Calypso is crying and screaming in frustration nearby.

So what's the square root of 4 multiplied by 3?

PERCY AND LEO ARE MISSING!

Annabeth has obviously come out from the forest and she and Calypso look like they lost their true loves. So it's really 2 + 2.

Wait-

OH SHIT THEY'RE MISSING!

Will runs up to me. "Rachel's calling us."

I pace around Rachel's cave. I didn't even know she was still here. The red head enters and wordlessly hands me a scroll. "I've copied down the prophecy there- You need to leave tomorrow. This was a sign."

"What was a sign?" Will asks

"Their disappearance," Nico says. I forgot he was here. He's sitting on a chair, staring glumly at he ground.

Either he still loves Percy or their friendship is very strong. I call both.

"Annabeth, Percy, and Leo had gone to look for Festus. Leo had gotten an emergency signal from him and he got the two of them to help. A nymph was following them, and she said she saw a giant hiding behind a bronze dragon. The moment Leo stepped out of the border, he leaped out and stuffed him in a bag. Percy had gone to help but then a few Cyclopes got him... Annabeth barely got away," he finishes dully.

"But- how is that a sign?" Will repeats.

"Annabeth said the giant had given her a message- he said he was Mimas, the bane of Hephaestus," Rachel says the name with intense hate, "and he would be waiting for the light and the dark..."

"Doesn't he mean two lights...?" I ask.

Rachel shakes her head grimly.

"Oh..." I swallow. Maybe Will or I will get lost in Ikea along the way? "So then we have to leave as soon as possible, before he can get too ready, right?"

"Exactly." Rachel gestures at the scroll she gave me. "That should help you with your first destination."
