Journaling?

Have I just been living under a rock (ayy me and Patrick are close, Spongebob has got nothing on our friendship) or has journaling become a huge thing both on Wattpad and in real life (that place I rarely go)?

So my recommendations on YouTube have been littered with videos about 'bullet journaling' which I still don't understand, and just people talking about journaling in general. And on Wattpad, it seems like a lot of people are posting 'journal books' now. Where has this trend come from?

Is it even a trend?

Am I just stupid? I probably am being stupid to be honest.

Being the nosey person I am, I love reading/ watching people's journals because it's like stepping in someone's life for a while; but if this is a new trend, then I've been a trendsetter since 2014. And people have been trendsetting for decades, probably centuries.

No Ella you don't understand! It's not just about the journal, it's about the aesthetic.

Ah! It's a Tumblr user, save me children! I'm kidding... Not really but you get the idea. This whole journaling thing has stemmed from one thing, and one thing only: making pretty pages in a notebook. Gone are the days where I can just write about my boring days, now I feel obliged to draw fancy watercolour pictures and use calligraphy pens.

I feel like if I were to write a book about my life on Wattpad, it would be written almost in a fiction-style than an informal book just because I think that would be more enjoyable for people to read, plus it would be more fun to write if I'm honest. I mean nobody would want to read a book about my life because it's so dull however I can see why it is so appealing for people to do on Wattpad.

I guess this book is sort of like a journal in some ways, I express a lot of my opinions in this book and a lot of the rants are based upon things that happen in my life. It's not quite the same though really.

Has anyone else noticed all these journals creeping into social media? I blame 'Wreck This Journal' and everyone who went really extra with it. I mean my Wreck-This-Journal is literally the grossest thing ever, because I actually followed the instructions and caked it in mud and brought it in the shower.

Does anyone enjoy reading journals on Wattpad? Is it something that is fun and exciting?

I'm sorry this chapter was quite long and without much substance, I just got a bit carried away.
