Greece (Heracles Karpusi) x Reader

Blue stretched across the sky above him, unblemished by the presence of white clouds. Heracles sleepily roamed the large field in search of his companion. The familiar sight of the large oak tree blossomed hope within his chest. He'd often find her laying underneath the tree and staring out at the scenery. He stifled a yawn as he found (Y/N) sitting on one of the lower branches on the tree "Good afternoon." She looked down at him with a fond smile "Good afternoon Heracles." He vaguely gestured at her and then the ground and she huffed at his actions in amusement "You want me to come down so you can take a nap on my lap?" He nodded and covered his mouth to hide his yawn. She smiled happily and jumped down to position herself comfortably against the tree. Heracles smiled slightly at her willing attitude and found a comfortable place for him to lay his head. "Thank you" he stated, another yawn escaping him. She hummed in response and shifted her position to accommodate his weight better.

The warmth of the sun and the gentle caress of her hand in his hair lulled him into a sleepy daze. He enjoyed moments like this. He liked having her close to him. Her presence made him feel secure and safe in a place he couldn't call home."Heracles" she gently called out, keeping her voice low in an effort to not wake him up if he had already fallen into a slumber. "Hmm?" He questioned, shifting to press himself closer to her. The hand in his hair stilled and he nudged her gently to get her to continue. She peered down at him before continuing the action "Do you think we'll be together forever?" He opened his eyes to land his gaze upon her. (Y/N)'s expression portrayed her worry and anxiety clearly and he shifted to wrap one of his arms around her waist "We will." "What about when we leave....if we ever get to leave?" She voiced out her concern, trying to ignore the sting of tears. Heracles remained silent as he pondered the thought.

Birds chirped happily despite the tense situation between the two nations. "You can come with me" he began, "If you want. You wouldn't be able to be your own sovereign nation though." "I'm okay with that" she whispered, and Heracles blinked in surprise "I'm okay with anything. I just want to be together." He smiled softly at her words and closed his eyes once again "We'll be able to leave one day. I promise." He couldn't see her expression, but he could imagine the smile lighting up her face. "Let's sleep now" he mumbled, basking in the warmth of the sun and her body. The sounds of nature calmed the two nations down and (Y/N) found herself slowly being lulled to sleep against the rough tree bark. Within the confines of their secret safe space, (Y/N) allowed her guard to drop and to relax in her surroundings. Heracles mumbled in his sleep as she felt the weight of exhaustion gradually consume her. Her eyes felt heavy and the sight of the bright blue sky disappeared with the final closing of her eyes.

Heavy steps shook the ground and Heracles startled in her lap. He sat up in confusion at the disturbance and glanced over at (Y/N) to note her rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. The pair gazed out at the horizon and a heaviness washed over them. (Y/N) reached for his hand and he squeezed it in support "Maybe it's nothing." She shook her head and reached out to pull him closer to her, to protect herself and to protect him "It's never nothing." The Ottoman Empire stopped before them and frowned at the casual intimateness shared between the two. Heracles glared up at him "What do you want? We should be allowed to rest, we did everything you asked of us." "We did complete all our tasks" (Y/N) supplied, hoping to calm the fury evident in his expression.

The empire harshly pushed Heracles to the side and pulled (Y/N) to stand up next to his side "You're leaving." Instead of the anticipated hope she expected to feel at the sound of those words, dread settled itself in her chest "What?" He glared down at her and pulled her to walk beside him "You're staying with France." Heracles moved to stop them but faltered in his steps at the harsh look sent his way. (Y/N) looked back at him "Can Heracles come to?" The empire's grip tightened "No. France acquired you through war." She winced at the tight grip and silently followed him back to the estate. Heracles rushed after them and watched helplessly as the Ottoman Empire wordlessly handed (Y/N) over to the French Empire. (Y/N) looked over at Heracles one last time before being shoved into the carriage.

Notes:

Prompt: Forced Apart. Both are teens and under Ottoman rule.

He has cat-like tendencies and I focused on that because it seemed like a fun idea.

Important: The Ottoman Empire and the French Empire are different than Turkey and France. The same person, but different minds

Happy New Year! (Though I'm sure 80% of the world has already experienced it by the time I post this).

I promise I didn't plan for an angst chapter to be the first one of the year.

I hope you enjoyed this
