Romano (Lovino Vargas) X Mute!Reader

Lovino made his way down the hall muttering silent curses at his friend who forced him to come to school during the summer to assist him in the library. He walked into the room and scowled at the smiling face of his Spanish friend who instantly ran to hug him. Lovino kicked Antonio away gently "If you have time to bother me, then you have time to work." Antonio frowned in response "Don't be like that Lovi." Lovino scowled "Don't call me that." He peeked over his friend's shoulder to notice a teenage girl watching the pair with an amused expression. He instantly moved away from Antonio and walked over to the girl, kissing her hand "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Lovino Vargas. May I have the pleasure of knowing your name bella?"

She smiled at him and Antonio tackled him "Lovi I want you to meet my other assistant. Her name is (Y/N)." She shook his hand in a greeting and he felt heat rush to his cheeks from her kind smile. She observed him with curious eyes and turned to Antonio. Antonio smiled "He is going to be assisting us in the library." She smiled once again and nodded happily, causing Lovino's blush to darken. Lovino turned away from him and surprisingly paid attention when Antonio gave the pair their respective duties. (Y/N) scurried off in a hurry and began the task assigned to her.

As she worked on the task she glanced at the brunette Italian, smiling slightly at his annoyed look. She felt blood rush to her cheeks as she imagined herself alone together with the Italian in the library. She shook her head and smiled slightly to herself as she finished her task. The moment she finished she became aware of Lovino's presence behind her and she turned to face him, clutching the notebook and pencil close to her chest. She observed as Lovino grew curious "What's with the notebook?" She looked around the library frantically in search of Antonio and she stared at Lovino with panicked eyes.

He frowned in confusion "Is something wrong?" She opened up her notebook and scribbled down one word; Antonio. Lovino read the text and looked into her eyes "Antonio? Do you need him?" She nodded and Lovino went to fetch the Spaniard, wondering why he deserted the girl if she needed his assistance. Lovino peeked his head into the last aisle "Antonio." "Lovi!" Antonio smiled and walked over to greet him. Lovino ignored the nickname "The girl needs your help."

Antonio frowned and quickly made his way over to the panicked girl, who seemed to calm down the moment Lovino left her alone. She looked up into Antonio's calming green eyes and smiled in relief. He noticed her behaviour "Is something wrong?" Lovino watched as the two began to converse using gestures and he grew confused with each passing second "Do you guys have your own secret language?"

Antonio chuckled as (Y/N) grew alarmed at the sound of his voice "It's called sign language Lovi. (Y/N) is mute." Lovino looked into her eyes and she looked away immediately, ashamed of herself. Lovino frowned and walked over to her "Why are you looking away?" Antonio translated for her "She said it's because it makes her a problem and that she's a freak." Antonio glowered at his friend and she shrunk under his gaze "Why would you think that?" Lovino stepped in front of Antonio and made her look into his eyes.

She felt her face heating up and she figured she resembled a tomato at this point. Lovino rolled his eyes at her reaction "It doesn't make you either of those things." He paused and blushed slightly "I think it adds to your charm. It allows me to see the subtle changes in your expression." Her face flamed up from the compliment and Lovino smiled as the blush spread to her ears. Antonio watched in the background in astonishment, but translated once again "Thank you." Lovino's smile grew "Let's get back to work. I think I need help finishing this task in time."

She stared at him in wonder for a few moments and readily agreed to help him. The pair spent their time organizing the books and Lovino adored watching her facial expressions change. He found his favourite expression to be when she was flustered from his flirtatious actions directed towards her. The more time he spent with her, the lighter his chest felt. She frowned playfully up at him as he once again screwed up the placement of the book and he felt a small smile form on his face.

Author's Note:

I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Once again, if I did something wrong and didn't accurately portray the character, please let me know and I will try to fix it. The last thing I want to do is offend anyone.

The next character is Scotland. He's a version of the character I've formulated after reading a bunch of stories involving him and I hope you like his character.
