Request: England (Arthur Kirkland) x SPD!Reader

Arthur roamed the halls in search of a quiet place where he could find a place to rest. He couldn't handle the loud cheering coming from the school gymnasium and decided to step away from the chaos. Arthur paused in front of the door to the science classroom and peeked his head inside to check if it was empty. His emerald green eyes landed on a female hunched into herself with her hands fiddling with her hair. (Y/N) looked up at the sudden presence in the room and stared at the familiar face in confusion. She drew further into herself when he stepped further into the dark room. Arthur paused in his movements and took a moment to properly identify the individual in distress. His eyes scanned over their baggy outfit to land on their face. "(Y/N)?" He called out softly, taking another step closer to her.

She lifted her head in acknowledgement and connected her eyes with his. "Are you okay?" Arthur asked, keeping in mind to keep his voice soft, as he took the last few steps to crouch next to her. "I don't know" she mumbled, rubbing her arm up and down. She wanted to tell him that she was still struggling and that she wanted his assistance, but the words refused to come out. Arthur hesitantly took a seat next to her. He kept watch of her reactions as he settled himself down properly on the ground. "Was it because of the pep rally in the gymnasium?" He questioned, hoping to find out the source of his friend's distress. (Y/N) remained silent as she focused on the voices echoing through the hallways of the school before nodding "Yes." Arthur hummed in acknowledgement. He wanted to help her, yet at the same time, he didn't want to overload her senses with constant chatter.

Students started to leave the gymnasium and enter the hallway. Loud voices started to flow from the hallway into the science classroom and (Y/N) unconsciously began to scratch her arm. Arthur watched in worry as he thought of different ways he could help calm her down. To the best of his abilities, he quietly rummaged through his backpack and pulled out a pair of headphones. "Would you like these?" He asked, stretching his arm out to offer it to her "It's noise-cancelling. Would it help?" (Y/N) stared at his calm, friendly expression for a moment before nodding and taking the device into her own hands. She continued to watch him as she thought of different ways to ask him why he was helping her. "Can you play music?" She asked him softly, "Calm music, please." He nodded with a small smile. She placed the headphones on and he pressed play on his phone. (Y/N) shut her eyes and immersed herself in the calm melody as Arthur remained seated near her. He observed her with worried eyes. He wanted to help her more and to keep her protected from things that caused her harm, but he wasn't aware of how to do that.

Arthur leaned against the cold wall and observed her out of the corner of his eye. It made him happy to see her content and calm. He had known her for two years, yet had only witnessed her break down in front of him twice before. He wanted to pull her into a hug but wasn't sure whether that would help her or harm her even more. When she had sufficiently calmed down once again, she took the headphones off and passed them back to Arthur "Thank you." He blinked at the expression of gratitude before smiling softly at her "It's no problem, love." (Y/N) ignored the warmth on her cheeks at the familiar pet name and decided to turn the topic to something else "Why are you here?" Arthur sighed and adjusted himself to lean more comfortably against the wall "I had to get away from that ruckus. That twit Alfred kept screaming right into my ear." (Y/N) smiled at the comment about his friend and turned to look at Arthur properly. She felt grateful for his presence and wanted to express her feelings to him.

(Y/N) placed her hands on her thighs and took a deep breath. "I'm glad you're okay now" Arthur commented before she could express her gratitude, "I was really worried that you'd hurt yourself." She shook her head and turned her gaze to the ground "Thank you for helping me." He shook his head with a fond smile "I'll always be there to help you. If you ever need help, just call for me." He slowly stood up "How about we get some tacos then?" (Y/N) copied his actions "How about something else?" Arthur paused in realization. He shrugged his backpack back on "Alright then love. You pick where we go next."

Prompt Word: Fluff after a meltdown

Disclaimer: I am not knowledgeable about this particular topic. If I have made any mistakes, I will fix them immediately, so please let me know. The last thing I want to do is misrepresent people. According to the internet, there are different versions of SPD. This imagine focuses mainly on people with hypersensitivity and not on people with hyposensitivity. These are symptoms that people have told me about and that I have found on the internet. Some include:

-Fearful of surprise touch & avoid hugs & avoids standing close to others

-Food restrictions based on texture

-Struggles with speaking in certain conditions (Mainly in loud places, hence why she's pretty vocal here I think)

Basically, Arthur is aware that she has SPD, however, he's not the most knowledgeable on it and tries to help out, but isn't the best at it

I've heard playing calming music helps people with SPD calm down. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sorry if it's not fluff enough.

I would provide the link, but for some reason, it's not allowing me to paste the link here.

The special character will still be updated on Friday.
