Scotland (Allistor Kirkland) x Reader

Leaves fell down around the Scottish nation as the season changed from summer to autumn. He leaned his head against the rough bark of the tree and watched in mild amusement as the leaves danced in the wind. He closed his green eyes as a wave of exhaustion passed through him. The war against England had emotionally and physically drained the nation and his people. He kept his eyes closed as he thought of simpler times. He remembered the female nation who he would find sitting on the branches on the tree. She would wait patiently for him to return each day. An easy smile formed on Allistor's face as memories washed over him. He failed to hear the footsteps drawing closer as he delved deeper into his memories.

The peace and innocence of childhood had ended when she had left and his lands had begun to be ravaged by war and famine. "Excuse me?" He blinked his eyes open to stare up at a female peering at him with curious eyes. He blinked a few more times as he examined her "Who are you?" She shifted uneasily on her feet under his scrutinizing gaze "I'm (Y/N), but you may remember me as (C/N)." The names didn't ring any bells "Why are you here?" "My King created an alliance with you. I'm here to help you in your war against England" she explained. He paused. He briefly recalled creating an alliance with another country. Allistor sighed and patted the spot next to him "Sit." (Y/N) frowned, but obliged "Shouldn't we be fighting?" He glanced over at her, but didn't reply.

The two nations remained seated in silence. Allistor groaned and shifted to face her properly "What's wrong?" She fidgeted slightly "It just feels wrong for us to be sitting here and relaxing while our people are out there dying." His irritated expression slowly disappeared as realization set in. He sent her a small smile "No one's dying. If they were we'd feel it. I heard there may be a temporary truce." He nudged her slightly "It's important for nations to relax too." She nodded and smiled slightly at his change in attitude. She laid her head down on the tree and watched as the leaves swirled around them "This is a beautiful location. How did you find it?" She glanced over at him to notice his green eyes watching her carefully.

He sent her his infamous lazy smile "Years and years of exploring. A friend of mine found it first and introduced it to me." "Friend?" "A nation. It's been centuries since I've seen her" he explained, glancing over at her "Do you have anyone like that?" She paused and looked around her "No one that I can think of." She remained momentarily distracted by the birds in the tree before turning her attention back to him "I think it's wonderful that you had a friend like that. Sorry that you don't get to see her anymore." He watched her carefully. The Scottish nation often found it hard to accept new people into his life. A playful smile formed "I have a question." "Yes?" "Since we have an alliance, does that mean the two of us are together? That's what it's been like with my other alliances." He watched in slight amusement as red spread across her cheeks.

She struggled to come up with a reply and remained frazzled as the red darkened in embarrassment. Allistor chuckled at the sight before reaching our and gently patting her head in comfort "We don't have to if you don't want to." She shook her head and willed her blush to disappear "I'm not entirely opposed. I mean you're handsome enough, and you've been quite kind to me." Allistor watched her in slight fascination as pink unknowingly dusted his cheeks "I think it's time we head back. It's important to check up on our people and finalize the deals of the alliance." (Y/N) grabbed his outstretched hand and allowed him to pull her up off the ground.

She dusted the dirt off her clothes and looked up at him "Um. Can you lead the way? I'm not sure how to get back." The teasing grin on his face made her immediately regret her question. He led her back to the main camp while commenting about her lack of directional skills. She tuned him out as she gazed at the sights of the forest around her "Scotland is a beautiful country." "Why thank you lassie" Allistor commented, a fierce red blush decorating her cheeks as realization settled in. "I didn't mean it like that" she mumbled, looking away from the smile growing on his face. "Didn't you call me handsome earlier?" He commented, watching in amusement as she tried to justify herself. The two soon arrived at the camp.

Notes:

She's not the child from his past. I was going to make her that, but it seemed too cheesy so I changed my mind.

Prompt Word: Tree. Pretty self-explanatory I think as it does take place underneath a tree. Some of the prompt words you see at the end of the chapter either have a minuscule effect on the story like this or are a major theme like in Romano's chapter. It kind of depends on what the word is.

Scotland will most likely not appear again unless requested or I want to do him. There is a 50-50 chance I will do him as I love his character, however, as I know very little about his character, it has become increasingly harder to write him

Hope you enjoyed this.
