England (Arthur Kirkland) X Reader

She gazed at the books displayed before her and internally groaned at the surplus of options. She recalled her mother stating she would be allowed to take out only a singular book and if she brought home more, consequences would follow. Her brain eagerly searched for a loophole to the problem that lay before her and her eyes widened in astonishment. Her mother never set a time limit, and therefore she could read one book, or possibly more, in the library.

She picked up the most tempting book in the library and found a comfortable spot in the corner of the building. She allowed herself to succumb to the story told on the pages in the book before her. Her mind raced with images as she read line by line, visualizing each part of the story she could visualize. She closed the book in satisfaction and moved to return the book to its proper place, failing to take notice of the male walking by.

The two collided and she found herself laying on top of the male, the only thing between them her recently finished book. She scrambled off of him and felt heat rising to her cheeks "I apologize." He merely smiled at her and stood up. She cleared her throat "Is there a way I could apologize properly?" She looked up into the male's glittering green eyes and felt herself internally swoon from his strong gaze.

His voice came out smooth and she could detect hints of an accent "A cup of tea sounds nice." A smile graced his features and she would be lying if she didn't find his features to be pleasant. He received a smile in return and she quickly scanned out a singular library book before accompanying the mysterious male to the nearby cafe.

During her quick exchange with the cashier, she failed to take notice of the male finding a place the two could sit down together and converse. She turned around, both drinks in hand, and frowned at the lack of male presence "Where did he go?" She took notice of the blonde-haired male and smiled when she recognized his large eyebrows, which she quite liked. She walked over to the table and smiled at the male apologetically while handing him his tea "I do apologize for running into you." He smiled at her polite manner "It's quite alright. I should have been watching where I was going as well."

Comfortable silence loomed over them until the male paused before placing his drink on the table gently "I realized it was quite rude of me to not introduce myself. My name is Arthur Kirkland." She liked the sound of his name and she unconsciously smiled "It's no bother at all. My name is (Y/N)." He smiled at the sound of her name and ran it through his mind a few times. "If you don't mind me asking, what country are you from?" She puffed out her chest slightly, showing immediate signs of pride in her country "(C/N)." Arthur smiled, recalling previously forgotten memories at the sound of the country's name "Do you enjoy living there?" She looked as if she had just been slapped in the face "Of course I do."

He felt pride well up in his chest and watched as the female before him continued to compliment her country. She cleared her throat "I apologize for the small rant. Sometimes I feel that my country gets a bad reputation." The comment felt like someone punched him in the stomach and he nodded in response "I understand. I too tend to think of the bad things associated with your country." He expected her to glower at him, but instead, she smiled "I guess I've re-educated you then. What country are you from?" A smile made its way onto his face "England." She placed down her drink on the table gently "That's what the accent was." The two slipped into easy conversation, which ended far after the pair finished their drinks.

Arthur watched the female in front of him and smiled at the sight of her smile "Maybe we could spend more time together?" She watched him in confusion, not sure how to respond. He glanced into her eyes nervously "Perhaps you could educate me more on (C/N)?" His comment elicited a positive response from the female who nodded vigorously, a wide smile on her face "I would love that." She fiddled with the cup in front of her "Do you have a phone number?" She paused, red adorning her cheeks "I mean, it would be wise to exchange numbers for future meetings." He smiled at her reaction, pink dusting his cheeks from the comment "I do." The two quickly exchanged numbers before she stood up from the table "I look forward to our next meeting." Arthur watched her with a smile as she left the cafe.
