Today is Luca's first birthday and first birthday!
One year ago today, Luca Everett Shepherd-Aguiar was born at 33 weeks along due to Will having a placenta abruption.
Luckily, both Will and Luca survived the traumatic and scary birth and both of them are doing great today!
Despite Luca being born seven weeks early, he was only in the NICU for three weeks and has been ahead or right on time on all of his milestones!

Today, Will and RJ are going to have a small birthday party with just family members since the pandemic is still happening and Luca has a lower immune system due to being a premature baby.
Most of Will and RJ's family members from Florida are all flying in from Florida to California to celebrate Luca's big first birthday party, which makes Will and RJ both extremely happy because they haven't seen their family in person since Christmas!
Also, most of Will and RJ's family members have received the Covid vaccines, so that makes Will and RJ both comfortable to invite them to celebrate Luca's big day today!
Also, a lot of Benji's biological family members are coming over to celebrate Luca's first birthday because they are family to Will and RJ as well!
Right now, Will, RJ, Benji, Coralei, Averie, Theodore, Harlow, Luca and the dogs Dobby, Sammy and Astrid are all hanging out and getting ready for Luca's birthday party to begin!

"Da da da! Da da da!" Luca says as he happily wobbles over to Will, making Will smile ear to ear at him.
A few days ago, Luca took his very first few steps! Luca can only take a step or two before falling down, but it is a start!
Will and RJ both didn't think Luca would be ready to walk or taking any steps on his first birthday since he was born seven weeks premature.
