elena, stefan and damon were sitting it the living room of the salvatore house while they waited for alaric to come over.
they heard the knock on the door and damon went to open it for him.
"thanks for coming, ric. can i get you something to drink? coffee, bourbon, bourbon in your coffee?" damon asked him.
"elena mentioned you needed my help." alaric said.
"yeah. we were, uh, hoping you could help shed some light on the lockwood family." stefan said as ric sat beside may.
"now, why would i know anything about the lockwoods?" alaric asked.
"well, you wouldn't. but your dead not dead vampire wife might." damon said.
"isobel's research from when you guys were at duke together." elena explained.
"you said that she has spent years researching this town." stefan said.
"isobel' research here in mystic falls was rooted in folklore and legend. at the time, i thought most of which was fiction." alaric said.
"until you found out it wasn't." may said.
"like that amazing vampire story." damon said.
"aside from vampires, what else?" elena asked him.
"the lycanthropy." alaric said as may's eyes widened.
"werewolves?" may asked.
"no way. impossible. way too lon chaney." damon said.
"is it?" stefan asked.
"i've been on this planet 160 some odd years, never come across one. if werewolves exist, where the hell are they?" damon asked.
"actually, werewolves did exist a long time ago. but now? i haven't seen a werewolf in decades." may said.
"well, why do you suspect the lockwoods?" alaric asked.
"vervain didn't affect the mayor on founders day, but the gilbert device did. and it affected his son tyler." damon said.
"and at the school carnival, his uncle mason exhibited inhuman behavior when he fought one of the carnival workers. it suggested some sort of a supernatural entity." stefan said.
"not to mention how he beat stefan in an arm wrestling contest. mason has superhuman strength but not exactly like a vampire." may said.
"we were hoping that isobel's research could help us figure out what it is." elena said.
"well, all of her things are still at duke. i mean her office is still there. she's technically still missing." alaric said.
"so, can we get access to it? ric, we need to know what we're dealing with. if this wolfman thing is true, i've seen enough movies to know it's not good. it means mason lockwood is a real life lon chaney. and that little tyler punk may just very well be lon chaney jr. which means bela lugosi, meaning me, is totally screwed." damon asked.

damon, alaric and elena went to duke while may and stefan went to the grill.
they met up with bonnie to talk to her about making a daylight ring for caroline.
"i don't know how to make a day walking ring." bonnie said.
"emily made mine, made damon's too. instructions must be in the grimoire." stefan told her.
"that doesn't mean i can cast a spell." bonnie replied.
