may and stefan were back home with lexi and alaric. some of them were ease dropping on damon and elena's conversation and they heard a slap.
may laughed knowing elena had slapped damon in the face.
"ouch." lexi said.
"yeah. i taught her that swing." alaric said as lexi laughed.
"you know it's not polite to eavesdrop, right?" stefan asked.
"hey. i'm shirt on time here. don't rob me of what little joy i have. may is the one who should be eavesdropping." lexi said.
"hey!" may said.
"anyone seen jeremy?" elena asked when she came downstairs.
"ohh. he went to see bonnie. he'll be back later, you know, before... well, you know." alaric said.
"yeah. stefan, can i, um... can i have a moment?" elena asked him.
"sure." stefan replied before the two of them walked into the other room.
"this could get interesting." lexi said.
"usually does." alaric replied.
"so the other side. not exactly a party, is it?" lexi asked him.
"i've lived... better." alaric replied.
"you know there's something else out there, right? there has to be. silas' whole agenda was to find peace with his one true love, and whatever peace is, it's out there. i figure once we've served our time for all the bad things we've done, then it's just about letting go and moving on." lexi said.
"if anyone is going to find peace, it's you guys." may said.
"and how are we supposed to do that when the knuckleheads we care about can't seem to kept their lives straight?" alaric asked.
"yeah. like this one." lexi said as may laughed.
"right, i'm the knucklehead." may said as they all chuckled.

after stefan and elena talked, she gave him the cure and then went to talk to damon.
may and lexi were listening in and when they saw stefan's expression, they knew he had been too.
elena had admitted to damon that she loved him.
"now who's eavesdropping?" lexi asked putting her hand on stefan's shoulder.
may knew what this meant, stefan was going to be leaving.
stefan and lexi were going to go drop silas' body off at the quarry.
lexi and may were alone and lexi looked at her.
"what's that look for?" may asked her.
"i know you wouldn't talk to me about it in front of stefan, so i thought we could talk about this alone. ren." lexi said as may looked down.
"how do you know about him?" may asked as lexi grinned.
"i check in on your and stefan constantly why wouldn't i know him? i know you thought he was on the other side... but i've been looking and i..." lexi began but may cut her off.
"wait, did you find him?" may asked her.
"i'm sorry, may. but this doesn't mean you'll never find love again. there's a possibility he's out there as a vampire... but he could've also died as a human." lexi told her.
"you know it's funny... everyone says that i have all this freedom because i'm the vampire that can't love anyone but when nobody wakes you up in the morning, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. what do you call it? freedom or loneliness?" may asked with a sad smile.
"you are not alone, may. remember that. you deserve to have an epic love." lexi said giving her a hug.
after their talk, lexi went with stefan to go and dump silas' body out in the quarry.
may was grateful for the time she got to spend with lexi before the veil was getting put back up.

when may went back up into her room, she began thinking about what lexi said.
maybe ren was still out there somewhere as a vampire? she hadn't turned him but there was a possibility someone else had.
she grabbed her photos and she looked at the one photo she had of ren.
she flipped the back and she looked at what was written on the back.

may held the photo close to her and she felt memories coming into her mind.
it was 1898. lorenzo and mabel were out in a garden laying on a blanket.
"a lovely day with a lovely woman." lorenzo said before kissing mabel's hand.
mabel smiled and she looked into his eyes, she couldn't believe how happy she felt around him.
"i must agree, this is a perfect day." mabel said.
it was sunny out and mabel was so happy she had her daylight ring to be able to enjoy it with lorenzo.
lorenzo wrapped his arms around mabel and kissed her forehead. they both felt so content in this moment together.
"what is your favorite feeling in the world? besides how you're feeling right now?" mabel asked him.
"well, i think the feeling i'm having right now is my favorite." lorenzo replied as mabel chuckled.
"that wasn't the question." mabel said cuddling into him.
"what about you? what is your favorite feeling in the world?" lorenzo asked her.
"i think it's the feeling of being alive. i think that living isn't staying alive, it's figuring out why you'd want to." mabel said.
"i think that's beautiful. you've got such a bright mind you know?" lorenzo said smiling at her.
mabel didn't reply, she just closed her eyes and took in the moment.
she felt guilty that she couldn't tell lorenzo her biggest secret. she couldn't tell him that she was a vampire and that every time they were together, she had to fight that urge to sink her teeth into his neck.
but then, despite all the carvings, she looked at him, his smile and she felt calm.
may felt a tear roll down her cheek from the memory. she longed for him. she needed to know for sure if he was alive or not.
