stefan and may had been following enzo and damon to make sure they weren't doing anything too crazy.
they saw enzo was in the woods burying a body. he had a shovel in hand.
"i see damon's got you on shallow grave duty." stefan said catching enzo's attention.
"be a mate. grab a shovel." enzo said.
"pass." may said.
"i'll pass too. buried enough skeletons out here." stefan said.
"i'm sensing a metaphor." enzo said.
"i think you need to find yourself a new best friend. damon's in a bad place right now. and you're not really making things better. i know you just got out of captivity... and you're looking to blow off a bit of steam, which is fine... just do me a favor, leave my brother out of it." stefan said.
"he mentioned you were a bit of a do gooder." enzo replied.
may could sense that stefan hated enzo. she knew that if they started fighting, she'd have to break it up because she couldn't have the guy she once loved fight her best friend.
"yeah. you know what makes somebody walk a straight line? when they have no choice but to be balance for somebody who's about to fall off the edge." stefan said.
"ah, but it's so much more fun when you can just commit to the leap." enzo said.
"hm." stefan said nodding his head.
"you're welcome to join in on the fun. looks like you could use it." enzo said passing stefan the shovel and he took it.
"stefan." may said seeing he was fuming.
he hit enzo with the shovel, sending him on the ground. enzo tried to get back up but stefan used his foot to push him back down.
before stefan could put the shovel in enzo's stomach, may grabbed stefan, pushing him off.
"may!" stefan said in a frustrated tone.
"you're not going to hurt him, stefan." may said to her best friend.
"why the hell not?" stefan asked angrily.
"because i won't let you. i'm stronger than you, stefan. don't do this." may said.
"thanks for the save, love." enzo said before he used his vampire speed to run off.

may got a call from caroline who was at a dance at whitmore.
enzo had taken jeremy hostage to get bonnie to find a witch to do a locator spell. damon and enzo wanted to find wes maxfield to kill him.
may quickly made her way over to the campus to try and help in any way she could. she wasn't sure that she could influence enzo, not after everything he had gone through.
may met up with stefan and elena. elena knew where enzo was keeping jeremy and the three of them quickly went over there.
once they arrived at the whitmore house, they found jeremy with a bag over his head and enzo stand by the fire.
stefan shoved enzo against the wall while elena and may went to jeremy.
"jeremy. jer. damn it, jeremy." elena said before she gave him mouth to mouth.
enzo pushed stefan and they began fighting making may stand up and get her attention off of jeremy.
"come on, wake up, jeremy." elena said before she started pounding on his chest.
