Vivi's Tears//Chapter 40

It was the next morning before the crew departed.

"Forgive me for the shameful sight yesterday, Vivi..." Toto apologized quickly.

"Oh, you don't need to apologize for that." Vivi waved it off politely, "Well.. We'll be off then, Toto."

"Right... Oh Luffy, take this with you." Toto brought out a jug of water.

"WATER!" Luffy exclaimed shocked.

"WATER!?" Usopp shouted confused.

"You managed to find some!?" Luffy looked up at the old man.

"Yes. shortly after you fell asleep while digging that hole, I finally managed to reach a layer of moist earth..." The old man explained, "The water I gave you is from distilling a portion of that."

"Thanks, mister! I didn't really understand all that stuff you said but I'll treasure this water!" Luffy was shaking with gratitude.

"It's genuine Yuba water... I'm sorry there isn't anymore to give than that right now..."

And with that, Vivi waved goodbye to the nice man and off they went.

Going back to the glaring heat, the crew were now on the track to follow the rebels. Faythe was walking beside Luffy when she noticed that he stopped and sat by a tried tree.

"Hm?" Faythe tilted her head confused, but her body just stopped right by him. Watching him carefully.

It took a moment for the crew to notice two people weren't with them. They all looked back to see Luffy sitting criss cross, leaning back on the tree thinking about something. They watched Faythe just shrug and sit with him, holding up a giant wing to give them both shade.

"...? Is something wrong, Luffy?" Vivi started first.

Faythe glanced back at Zoro to see him keeping quiet. So she assumed it was a serious matter.

"I quit."

"WHAT!??"

Faythe didn't say a word, but just watched her Captain curiously. The crew walked back to confront their Captain's decision.

"Luffy, what're you talkin about!?" Nami stated sternly.

"HEY LUFFY! WE'VE GOT NO TIME TO PLAY ALONG WITH ONE OF YOUR WHIMS RIGHT NOW!" Usopp threw his fist up.

"Well we're going back aren't we?" Luffy replied back.

"Yeah, that's right. We have to head to Katorea 'cause that's where the rebels are!" Sanji retorted.

"You do realize we're trying to stop a huge civil war involving a million combatants that's going to start any time now, right!?" Vivi said sternly, trying to convince Luffy.

"This is all to help Vivi! Did you forget already!?" Sanji finished.

"I dun' wanna."

Nami frowned a bit thinking. while Sanji was flailing around pissed, "YOU WHAT!?"

"Vivi." Luffy addressed.

"What is it?"

"I want to kick Crocodile's ass!" Luffy's stare hardened as he stated his goal. Vivi started sweating as the stress started to build back up in her.
