Gilded Soil: LXIX

"How's he doing?" Adleth asked. Alekzandr folded his arms, taking a deep breath to answer her. The figure on the table was breathing heavily making whiny painful noises. Alekzandr had seen wounded men before, but this.. Was different. Asher looked like death had wrapped him in a cold embrace, his arms had muscle damage, his legs looked like they conceivable wouldn't work yet he had run all the way here mere hours ago. The Mask the man had sported for quite a while held a long deep gash along its bridge luckily the tough twisted steel glanced off any blows it seemed.

"I'm not sure, comrade.." Alekzandr gave Adleth a weary look the slim elf had a scowling intensive look on her face as she studied the body, she arrived around fifteen minutes after Markos and Herod had left, catching her up to speed was one thing trying to get her to abstain from murder was a whole other. "He.. was foolish, headstrong. I never expected this especially after our fights together. The great; 'Lýkos' Komandir Exitium is more reckless than I thought." He pondered on the brief stories he had heard of General Dmitry and his right hand man, no one really knew who Asher was, supposedly he was some random mercenary like much of the Rushiki army in the late days of the war. Alekzandr never bought that, from tales he had heard he knew this dual wielding vortex of death was far too well trained to be a mere grunt. He spoke with far too sophisticated language to be some nobody.. Which was weird with how crass he was now. "Riu.. and our new elf did their best.. Using every incantation they knew to save his life." He stopped. It made no sense, by every law of nature Asher Exitium should have been dead despite this he clinged to life like no one Alekz had seen before.. He shivered, recalling how terrifying the drow had been.. Those spells... did nothing.

"Well.. so much for a smart leader type, the fucker is an idiot. I thought we all agreed NOT to mess with this Innocent dagger killing thingy." Adleth rolled her eyes and Alekz couldn't help but agree, this did take his belief of Asher's intelligence down a peg or two. "Corellon, Asher, what were you thinking.." Her voice trailed off, Adleth took a step forward getting closer to the rapidly breathing body on the table circling it. "He.. shouldn't be alive." The elf decided finally.

"Mmm." Alekzandr nodded. He had seen men survive the worst before. Gutted open, filled with arrows, or even missing limbs from explosions. He shuddered, he had seen abominations undreamt of in men, creatures with pure black eyes of infinity white fur that never seemed to stain with blood. If someone could survive that.. Asher could survive this. "I agree." Alekzandr concluded. But of course.. He had her.. Asher.. What did he have?

"The flare was a smart idea." Alekzandr nearly jumped while Riu reentered the room, the normally well mannered properly dressed Aasimar was a mess. Her white hair stuck up at odd angles, her clothes had been removed and replaced with red stained garbs, her arms and hands were soaking wet yet she dried them on a towel as she walked into the room. "Without it the harpers wouldn't have found you.." Alekzandr gave her a brief smile. The flare he had shot into the sky was a mixture of several different spells. Minor illusion, shatter, and firebolt. He carefully crafted it from a red ray of fire into The Harper's own emblem. While the guard had chewed him out for it, it was the arrival of several members that had.. Deterred that creature off. He felt chills run down his spine. Although he may have looked confident in the moment, Alekzandr was terrified when he faced Ant'tran down he knew he couldn't fire nearly as many spells as was promised.. But, he also knew he wouldn't let his comrade get injured any further. "The quick thinking preserved Asher's life.. I know not if Ant'tran would've stopped otherwise." Riu whispered somberly.

"Where'd ya get the idea?" Adleth had set a hand on Asher's side, seemingly probing the wounded body. "Eh, I guess it doesn't take a genius to fire a spell in the air for help, just thought I'd ask. Also, here." Adleth reached to her side and tossed a large sack of gold though Alekzandr was sure the elf was normally more out for herself, the image of her party member broken on the table probably gave her some kind of remorse. "Our reward for killing that fucking.. It doesn't matter.." She finished with a bitter breath.
