Trail riding in the winter was always fun, and something that I wanted to do again with the boys as we had once gone to Switzerland and Snowmobiled through the Alps.

Zavier wiped out, Theo decided it would be fun to go off a cliff and we had to dig him out, and Lucian and I ended up teaching Chloe how to ride through the mountains since she had never gone and both Lucian and I were skilled at mountain riding.

In the end she was doing better then Zavier and Theo which led to them being general idiots as expected. No matter what those two found a way to make something be fun and enjoyable, a trait I wish I had as I was a little to focused on doing my best at everything.

As my grandpa stopped his truck we got out and began suiting up since I had wanted to go riding and was likely to go mountain riding anyhow so we drove to some of the mountains nearby that would be blanketed in snow.

Pulling on pants and my coat I grabbed my gloves and helmet to put on my Ski-Doo, which I quickly began to untie, storing the ratchet straps in the bed of the truck.

"You that excited to go?" he asks.

"Absolutely I am it's my favourite winter activity" I reply hopping onto the trailer and putting in the key and starting the sled before backing off the trailer.

Ten minutes later we had gotten fully ready, and me being me I put my phone in the storage area with a speaker hooked to the middle handle.

Hopping on I waited for my grandpa to be ready before we headed off with him ahead of me as I was a bit more daring, and well he had never actually gone mountain riding, my dad took me and that was when I learned which we did in a safe environment and not the kind of one that my dad and his friend Nico would go on together with their friends some years.

As we cruised along the paths of a logged gas line that would be several feet beneath the found that was embedded under several feet of snow I looked around at the serene landscape. The trees stood stark against the powdery white background, the outlines of low crested hills, and the sharp inclines of peaks daring me to climb them, to test my ability to reach the top to look over the valley at everything I could see.

"Where does this lead?" I ask stopping and flipping my goggles up.

"Top of this mountain off trail you could get there faster but I don't know if you want to do that" my grandpa says.

"I've been mountain riding with my dad, I'm sure I could get to the top pretty easily" I say eyeing the mountain.

"How many times?".

"Over a dozen last winter alone" I reply.

"Do you  want to try it?".

"Absolutely I do" I say, "looks quite fun actually".

"Just like your dad, will take any challenge head on".

"It's the only way to see if something will work, just try it" I shrug flicking down the goggles and locking them tightly to my helmet before biffing through a snow bank, and sailing over the top of the crystaline snow. The wilderness was an escape for my family away from the cities where everything was busy out here we were all free. Free to have fires and cruise along roads as fast as we wanted, free to mountain climb on sleds, and do dumb things as long as CO's didn't come along and catch us doing things we probably shouldn't like the one time Theo and Zavier tried to see if they could cage the explosion of a box of tannerite and it damn near threw a piece of steel a hundred feet.

That caught the attention of a Conservation Officer who then came to investigate, and we had to tell him that we were just shooting at a bunch of tannerite, also luckily for us my dad was there because if they weren't all of the guns would have been confiscated for being in the possession of a group of minors.
